Tell us a bit about yourself and business journey:
My name is Patrice Rivers, a 9x published author, freelance writer, certified journalist, and the proud owner of That Riverz Gurl Brand. I’ve always been the writer in the family and the gift got gave me at the age of nine was the best feeling and gift ever! I am a Virginia State University product and majored in Mass Communications, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. I published my first book in 2012 called "A Collection of God's Word and Motivation." My brand That Riverz Gurl Brand was birthed out of the many talented things I was born to do such as my books, freelance writing, my blog called Versafi The Blog, Married To Journalism, and my health platform called 'Let's Talk Cell Talk' dedicated to Sickle Cell Disease.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned from being a boss?
The biggest lesson that I have learned from being a boss is that getting clients and book sales wouldn't happen overnight. When my first book was published, I automatically thought people would support and buy my book, but that didn’t happen! Over the years, I learned that everyone isn’t your supporter and that you have to market to your target audience. I’m learning still to be patient and continue to market and promote your brand or business no matter what. If you are passionate about what you love doing, the right clients will come to you.
Please share a few of your 2020 business accomplishments:
This year has been crazy so far, but I’ve accomplished publishing two books; my children's book and poetry book, gaining many interview opportunities to promote my new book and brand, and landing another cover on a magazine.
What is next for you?
What's next for Patrice is to promote and market my brand, being the best I can be as a brand and boss babe and write! Writing is what keeps me going. I will continue to follow God’s plan to what other opportunities He has in store for me.
