Tell us about your latest Mompreneur Moves! I am an author and the owner of 2 businesses. I envisioned UGottaEat (UGE) after leaving a 26 Finance career in corporate America 4 years ago. UGE is a virtual marketplace app that connects Personal Chef services with consumers. We are pursuing equity funding to launch and scale in late 2020. My vision is to bring people together with chefs and delicious food in an exponential way, exceeding the possibilities of a brick and mortar restaurant. Mindful eating is at the core of UGE, giving everyone access to fresh and homemade food to live a life of wellness and healthy outcomes, while eliminating waste and food insecurity. With food in my awareness, I wrote my first book, A Year of ME, Mindful Eating to Improve Wellbeing, 366 Daily Affirmations. In late 2018, I wrote my second book, The 10 Days, A Wellness Retreat for personal transformation…at home.” This was my true launch into being a Wellness Lifestyle Entrepreneur and I launched TK Inspirations (TKI). I got my health coach certification which was practical. Then, I began speaking on wellbeing from a spiritual perspective by discovering health through purpose. My flagship program is Remarkable Wellness, a transformation of mind, body and spirit alignment. I lead Transformational Coaching and Group 60-day Wellness Journeys. This inspired my 3rd book as a companion to The 10 Days, and a guide for the Journey. Entitled, A Wellness Journey, it is daily affirmations and space to journal the spiritual travels for 8 weeks. This is time of reinvention, reaching higher levels of accomplishment and wisdom and yes, health and wellbeing by practicing 7 intentions. It is a transformation. We are hosting our 3rd Remarkable Wellness Journey, and will continue on this path 2 times annually, every spring and every fall.
How do you balance entrepreneurship with motherhood? I have crazy respect for mompreneurs with young children. When my kids were younger I had all types of creative ideas to bring to market that would help the world. I started my first company when my kids were young teenagers because it gave me the freedom that I wanted. I became a finance consultant and was a retained CFO for small companies. I could work from home 15 years ago, before it was mandatory like today. This lasted for 3 years, and after a messy divorce, I went back into the security of corporate. This didn’t feel like real entrepreneurship to me at the time. It was an extension of what I had been doing, but it did not have the fire of my unique vision that needed to be breathed into the world. When this fire did hit me, inspired by mindful eating and my own spiritual path I gained confidence of my purpose. By this time, my kids were grown and out of the house. Inflamed with a vision stepped out on faith to create it and became in my mind, a real entrepreneur. With adult children going though college and finding their own way, I did have to balnce my advice and reaction to their career choices. I would have never been an entrepreneur straight out of college. I had very deep conditioning around getting a job and saving money to buy things. I had to balance my old view of life with my new relationship with my spirit and unlimited possibilities, and pass this vibration to my children. This way they would have the freedom to fly in their 20s and not have to wait until their 40s like I did. My son Evan works with my company. He started his own company and performs Digital and web media management for contracts for UGE. My daughter started a fitness apparel business at the same time I was launching UGE. So I feel successful in allowing my children to walk their own path. What 3 steps helped you to become successful as a Mompreneur? What life has taught me is that I have unlimited potential to overcome obstacles and even thrive. I teach these 7 intentions to living a balanced and successful life in The 10 Days. If I boil it down to 1 thing, it is that your spiritual belif and practices are my competitive advantage in thriving in life. People focus on the stress and the body image that interferes with their clarity and decision making. Once made clear, out of the box thinking and execution happens. With that said, the 3 main practices for mompreneurs to really raise their game are: 1. A DAILY Meditation practice. 2. Exercise or Movement at least 30 minutes per day to maximize the energy of your nurturing mom self, and your creative & strategic genius. 3. Mindful Eating and eliminate processed foods from your lifestyle for remarkable wellness Any advice for moms who are considering a pivot into entrepreneurship right now: Entrepreneurship is not an easy road, but it will be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life when you persevere. Contemplate what perseverance means. Ask yourself, do I want to be happy and live the life of my dreams, or am I content with else’s dream? Let the answers inform the voracity of your decision and the timing. Timing matters. This quote is the best advice for life and new mompreneurs... “Success is not measured by the brilliance of your plans, but by the consistency of your actions.”-- unknown Please share how readers can support you and connect with you online: For more information visit www.
