Please introduce yourself to our network and tell us about your work: I’m Lynita Mitchell-Blackwell, the Leadership Champion! I’m the CEO of Leading Through Living Community, LLC, a publishing company of 6 bestselling authors, and BOLD Favor Media Group, LLC, which publishes the 2016 ATL’s Hottest Magazine BOLD Favor. I’m also an attorney, CPA, and certified Christian life coach. And I’m a #1 Bestselling Author of three books and keynote speaker who thoroughly enjoys bringing out the BRILLIANCE in people by helping them become 3PA’s: people of purpose, passion, and power ready to take BOLD and positive action! I have the pleasure of being wife to my love of 18+ years Rev. Brian K Blackwell, and the delight of being mom to the amazing Angelica G. I was born and raised in beautiful Miami, Florida, lived in “The ATL” for 17 years and almost became a peach, and now reside in Birmingham, Alabama (my husband was appointed pastor of Saint Paul AME Smithfield) this past summer. What inspired your pursuits in this area of interest? I started out as an author. I wrote my first book, Leading Through Living: A Guide for Women Seeking Growth Through Leadership, sharing my experiences – good, bad, and brilliant BOLD – as a young woman learning the truly important lessons of good leadership. It became a bestseller, and people invited me to come speak on my experiences. Some of those people asked me to help them get their books published (which really meant they wanted me to publish their books!). And so Leading Through Living Community LLC – publishing house, training, and speaking – was born. We’ve published six bestselling authors and counting!
About the same time, I attended the Art of Living Foundation’s International Women’s Conference in Bangalore, India, as a delegate and it was a game-changer for me! While there, God inspired me to launch BOLD Favor Magazine. It has grown to several titles, event management, and in 2016 was voted “ATL’s Hottest” in the annual PassKey Awards. With the incorporation of our international partnership with the African Library Project (we’ve established three libraries in rural communities in Kenya and Swaziland, and are working on our fourth to benefit a community in Botswana), I expanded the magazine into the BOLD Favor Media Group. We also executive produce local TV and radio shows through LTL Today. I continue practicing small business and contract law through my firm LMB Law and accounting with my firm Assured Accounting. I enjoy helping businesses grow and remain in compliance while doing so. What advice would you share with ladies interested in a similar profession? Don’t stop learning. I started this journey as a lawyer. I just wanted to share my experiences with others so they wouldn’t have to go through the same things I did to mature and grow into better people. Now I’m a publisher of magazines and motivational books, a TV and radio show producer, and executive coach. Be real. It was because people saw I was genuine and transparent about my flaws, challenges, and hardships that I’ve been blessed with such rich opportunities. Say yes… and no. Be open to doing new things in which you have no experience. But always listen to your ovaries – if the pit of your stomach says, “Naw, that’s ok!” – that’s not gas, so listen! What is next for you this Fall and 2018? I’m so excited about all the things 2017 and 2018 have in store! Our magazine is celebrating its third annual BOLD Awards Saturday, December 2nd, and tickets are on sale now at http://bit.ly/boldawards2017tix. I’m supper excited because it’s our opportunity to recognize and thank BOLD leaders who’ve been working hard to bring positive, uplifting energy into our communities. We’ll also reveal the 2018 BOLD Favor/Jenne’ Matilda Full-figured “PLUS-tacular” Calendar! AND the 9th class of our women’s training and development non-profit, the Jewell Jackson McCabe Emerging Leaders Institute, will celebrate its graduation during the program as well. For more about the program, visit www.EmergingLeadersToday.org. I'm serving as keynote speaker at Lateka Carter's DIVAS Conference December 16th, and tickets are on sale on Eventbrite. We kick our new year off right! January 27th, we’ll host our annual Vision LAUNCH Party to write the vision God has for our lives and create the plan to manifest our destinies. In February, I’m headed to India for the International Women’s Conference in Bangalore, hosted by the Art of Living Foundation. Also in March, our media group – BOLD Favor – will celebrate its 4th birthday! By then, our film division should be up and rolling HARD. I’m also working with the women of my church to establish a legal aid resource center in 2018. Its main purpose will be to assist in resolving minor disputes through a “community court”. These activities along with my individual speaking engagements, and being “first lady” (I prefer ONLY LADY!) and mom of the most awesome 10 year old girl ever should take me through most of the year!
