Her stories not only depict this, but it brings to life real characters, real stories, and real experiences. She wrote and directed two short films exposing self-hate in the Black community and multiple talk shows that amplify Black Women’s Voices. Her work was recognized as an official selection in the San Francisco Black Film Festival and Brooklyn Girl Film Festival.
From film director to blogger, and now playwright, Shamara is currently producing an interactive play. eVe Monologues is a play about 10 diverse women living in an apartment building in NYC. All have one thing in common and it’s up to the audience to figure it out. Think Rose’ mansion meets Broadway. The audience will travel from apartment to apartment to immerse in the character’s lives. The play will take place in Shamara’s hometown to inspire Black youth in the arts to follow their dreams.
