Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: Hey girrrl! I’m Tia Pugh, with pray slay work consulting! We teach emerging women entrepreneurs how to effectively use Facebook and Instagram to grow their business by providing them with strategies and tools to create an overall cohesive brand. We primarily work with new life coaches, but we have experience working with brands established in all industries. We strive to make Facebook and Instagram easy for you by providing services such as VIP coaching, self-study programs, and social media management. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
Let me just start by saying I had no clue I was social media savvy!! I had been homeless for five years, I tried a few different business ventures, and nothing seemed to work out. I was tired of my current situation, and one night I decided I’m going to follow God in business honestly, and He told me to start a T-shirt line, so I did it and low and behold it took off!! I sold over 40 shirts and made over $400 the first week by only following God. My shirts were selling like crazy, and my social media accounts were growing by leaps and bounds. I put out a shirt that said I'm a praying, slaying, working woman and it went viral. Someone took the quote of the design I made and took my name off of it, and every T-shirt company online jumped on the design and started selling it. Which caused some legal issues for them because it was my shirt, my design, and my phrase. People started asking me how I did it, asking me can they pay me to teach them. I decided to open a few slots for social media coaching, and they filled up within four days. I took that as a sign and said it’s time to turn this thing into a full-service business. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? Don’t second guess it, just do it! If people are asking you for the information, you better put a price on it. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: Since this isn’t my only business, I have found it hard to juggle it all at times. Early on I knew I would need help to keep up with all of the moving pieces, but I was terrified of letting someone else into my business. I honestly struggled with handing over my whole business, which often left me burnt out and wanting to throw in the towel. I had to give up my thirst to be in control of all things at all times to regain my sanity. You can’t run a business let alone businesses without a clear mind and for me to have the sanity I wanted I had to learn the power of delegating and allow others to help me be successful. What is next for your brand/business in 2017? Growth, a lot of growth! We’re looking to help at least 50 women get their business started this year. We are opening a membership program in July 2017. I am booking speaking engagements for next year, and we’re currently taking on new social media management clients as well. How can readers connect with you online and through social media?
