Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
Hello my name is Nicolya Williams I am a best-selling author and a personal development coach. I help busy women conquer their chaos and turn their message into their masterpiece. My ultimate goal is to help women who have a story, something important that they know needs to be shared with the world get it out into the hands of the masses
What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
The funny thing about my business is that was a God-given idea. I don't know a single person who owns a business to be able to ask questions to, but I just kept feeling this urgent pull to start my own business. When I started my business I knew that I wanted to help motivate and empower women to be the best that they could possibly be. I had no idea how I was going to go about that. One day God laid on my heart to write a book and from there the floodgates opened. I started working with women who also wanted to write a book and I helped them to find time, resources and support no matter where they are at in life.
What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit?
Many women desire to write their book while they still have plenty of other things they are juggling. Maybe they are a mother, they may be a wife and they may have a full-time job. I can relate to this because I was once a busy overwhelmed woman who felt led to write a book. I also felt that it could never happen due to all of the hats that I was wearing.
The first thing that women must recognize is that in order to be effective in any one area in your life you must put yourself first. It reminds me a lot of the airplane phenomenon when you're on an airplane if it were to crash the flight attendant informs you that in order to save someone you must put your face mask on yourself first and then you can put the facemask on the other people. The first time I heard this phenomenon it was so abstract. Now I understand it well and it applies to reality as well as applies to the airplane circumstance. If you want to be effective you have to be willing to make your goals and your desires as a priority. Without doing so you'll become resentful, angry and even bitter. So chose today to make your book writing goal a priority and it will be done in no time.
Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it:
A professional challenge I had was when I first started my business. Like I mentioned before I wear a lot of hats. I was overwhelmed with all the different roles that I was dealing with I was going to a pretty contentious divorce. Honestly I was just out right defeated. I knew that I wanted to start my business but I had no clue where I was going to find the time. I was really dedicated to my business and I refused to let another year go by without making my business an actual business.
So I decided that I was going to do what is called a daily hour of power. That is where I decided that every single day I would spend one hour of non-negotiable time working on my business. So if it was a very busy day at work or maybe with my children's extracurricular activities I knew that I needed to wake up extra early or stay up late to get that time in. Basically I made that decision that nothing was going to stop me from that hour of focused time. Now an hour doesn't seem like a lot of time but multiplied over every single day definitely adds up. I'm a firm believer that spending that time each day is why my business is where it's at today.
What is next for your brand/business in 2017?
This year I'll be working on a lot of fun projects. First I'll be working on my book writing to camp course where I teach women the strategies and steps they need to take to be able to publish their book in less than 30 days. I will also be working on two different book collaborations with some powerful women. Lastly I now have my own segment on the Miz CEO radio show. My segment is titled Motivational Moments with Nicolya so I'll be using that segment to motivate, encourage, empower and inspire women all over the world.
