Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: Blessings and Love to Everyone! My name is Mystique Hargrove and I am the Creator of Boho Wellness. I am currently a certified nutritionist and herbal alchemist as well as a trained birth doula and advocate to all things birth work. My focus is to provide wellness guidance and healing services to individuals who are in need to conceive, have successfully conceived and are need of assistance for successful pregnancies, but also to those who have suffered the loss due miscarriage or abortion or for those who just want to live a life of healing and wellness in general. My mission is to heal and create improved bodies for those in need in the Black community. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? The teachings of my late grandmother, Olivia (who was better known as “Mother Canada”). My grandmother is the reason for my passion in wellness and taking care of the body, especially the bodies of the Black community. Growing up, there really weren’t any healing practices, professionals or resources that associated with the bodies of Black people, especially Black women, and learning generations of healing and wellness rituals from my grandmother. Even as a child, it sparked my interest to be the next generation of healers and advocates for my community.
What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? Follow that "gut instinct" to turn your passion into a life time career. Don't listen or surround yourself with "naysayers"/negative energies and surround yourself with successful people and their energies. Success attracts success. Never block it with worry and self-doubt. Be your own motivator and gas your own self up if no one else is willing to provide the fuel and the flame. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: Learning how to cater my business and myself with customers by trying to “fit the mold.” I realized that just being myself and within my truth created an attraction to individuals in need of my services. I had an “identity struggle” where I felt I needed to be someone else in order to gain business. However, I later realized that my services and products are a dedication to my ancestors, especially my grandmother, who raised me to always love myself and embrace it by never feeling uncomfortable with my truth or with who I am. That is what creates the customer/client experience, being myself so my clients/customers can feel the love I radiate in being passionate about what I do. What is next for your brand/business in 2018? I’m focusing on completing my certification as a birth doula, child birth educator and lactation consultant so that I may begin to offer these services for 2018. Also, I’m creating more “healing goodies” for the Black community all over that will assist in knowing how to really learn about our own bodies and heal our own bodies as well. I’ll be adding a healing product line dedicated to my grandmother, Olivia, as well as expanding my products more internationally. How can readers connect with you online and through social media?
