What inspired you to become a CEO?
My inspiration came from seeing my mother being a CEO for 25 years as a hairstylist and salon owner. My mother took her business as a beautician very serious and I watched her work at her craft daily. There were countless of times she worked long shifts to juggle her career and ensuring to provide for my brothers and I. I was introduced into my own journey of entrepreneurship at age 21 in the Financial Services arena. Fast forward 7 years later, I launched HERPOWERTV to build a company that was truly designed to inspire and empower other women in stepping into their power and build their very own legacies.
If you could share business advice with yourself 10 years ago, what would you say?
Embrace the true essence of yourself and know that ALL the things you dream of building is in the power of YOU taking a bet on YOUR WORTH! Write down an action plan. Then, list your fears and/or obstacles that you think could block you from taking the first step to starting that business. Now that you have the plan and possibilities of failures, you CAN conquer these fears by taking action step-by-step to bring you the best possible outcome!
With February being the month of love, how do you feel self-love affects our entrepreneurship journey?
Self care is vital to our success as human beings, I believe in balance of all things. I indulge in self care by having an honest dialogue and positive affirmations with oneself. We all need alone time for peace of mind. I accomplish this through meditation and paying my self first! It will truly make a huge difference in your productivity.
What are you looking forward to most in 2020?
I am looking forward to meeting more creatives who are exploring past their limits for all purposes of new innovations. As a creator myself I will combine the things I loved doing as a child into my platform for authenticity and magic. A child’s imagination and passions can have the best creative ideas, in my opinion. In 2020 I will produce relatable content for my audience such as Impactful HERPOWER events, collaborations and build a creative hub for entrepreneurs to release their everyday stress through healing resources such as the arts, crafts, gardening and dance.

What was the first thing you did to invest in yourself and your craft?
I instantly put a halt to all things that were distractions to my goals. I stopped shopping for material items, and started utilizing those funds for classes to sharpen my craft, media equipment, and hired small business professionals to help establish the foundation and resources for my business.
