Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: My name is Dr. Sheila D. Williams and I am CEO and Owner of SW Consulting. I am author of the critically acclaimed memoir, ‘My Mother’s Keeper’. I am a Leadership Speaker, Trainer and Coach. I am a Therapist and Mental Health Advocate. I am the radio host of ‘Transformational Talk with Dr. Sheila’ and the TV show host of ‘The Dr. Sheila Show’. I teach others how to be intentional by bringing education, insight and inspiration to those wishing to reach their next level of success, despite anything they may be currently going through or anything they have experienced in the past. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I have always loved working with people. It motivates me and brings me joy to see others overcome obstacles and reach their fullest potential. I’ve had personal, educational and professional success. After achieving a certain level of success, and having been transparent about most of my life experiences, I realized that there was one aspect of my life I had not been transparent about. I have always encouraged my clients to be transparent with themselves and to use that transparency to not only heal from past or present issues, but to also assist others in finding hope and healing for themselves.
After keeping the ‘family secret’ that my Mother suffered from Clinical Depression, I made a conscious decision to tell her story and to be an advocate for Mental Health. Before my mother passed away, she gave me the okay to tell her story, which essentially is my story as well. This inspired me to start my business and to live fully in my true purpose. I know that God would not have blessed me with the experiences I have and the many blessings I’ve received if it weren’t meant for me to tell my story, share my experiences and expertise and bring awareness, hope, and healing to others What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? I believe that each of us has a purpose in life. Our life experiences, whether good or bad, as well as our spiritual or religious beliefs shape us into who we are. These life experiences, coupled with our beliefs as well as personal and/or professional experience and education all lead us to our life’s purpose. My advice would be for anyone seeking their life’s purpose, would be to write down their goals and ask themselves the following 2 questions:
What is next for your brand/business in 2018? I’m super excited about what 2018 has to offer. I have several speaking engagements and conferences I have already committed to. Due to the overwhelming positive feedback and support for my book and my message, I will be relaunching my memoir ‘My Mother’s Keeper’ and as well celebrate the release of the accompanying audiobook in April. Later this year, I will publish my 2nd book, as well as several eBooks and training materials. I will continue my book tour and book signings throughout the country. I also have a very special project I am working on, where I am partnering with 2 other trailblazers to host leadership conferences and workshops. Please stay connected with me through my website and social media for frequent updates. In everything I do, it is my goal to continue to empower, educate and inspire others to reach their fullest potential despite any challenges they may be currently experiencing or anything they have experienced in the past.
