Please introduce yourself and tell us about your profession: My name is Dr. Neema Moore I am a practicing Chiropractor and a wellness specialist. I am the owner of Manassas Wellness Center in Manassas, VA. I am a wife, mom to B/G twins, and I am a wellness doctor dedicated to helping people get well quicker and faster. I have been practicing for over a decade and I have seen thousands of patients over the years. And what I have come to realize is that wellness starts within. And my mission is to help patients to understand that and develop a wellness foundation for themselves and their families. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I have a degree in Biology Secondary Education and I was a Biology teacher first. But I knew always I wanted to work with people in the health field. My passion has always been to help people in health. Learning about the philosophy of the Chiropractic health profession about health comes from within, and that the body is able to heal itself really resonated with me. This was in perfect alignment with my core values, and I was hooked! And full steam ahead as I pursued my career. I ended up attending the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? Many people come up to me and say,” I want to own my own practice or business like you do.” I would tell them that your business can only go as far as you are self-developed. Your business and who you are as a person are one. The person you are and the business are not separate and your business is a reflection of you. So if you want to own your own business practice working on yourself, personal development, people skills, leadership skills, time management, your self-worth, your ideas around money, and your core values. No matter what field you are in your self-development is what will take you far and will determine your success. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: I have had many professional challenges, and the field that I am in is a male dominated profession. My biggest challenge was building my initial practice while my twins were 7 months old and the country was beginning to enter a recession. When I opened my practice I had to figure out where I would get the money to start my practice, create the time to take care of newborn twins, and build a business. I definitely had to figure it out and have a plan. What helped me move forward was that I discovered resources in my community that could help me build my business and allowed me to obtain funding. I was very focused on making my practice a success by dedicating my time and attention to building it up from the ground up. What is next for your brand/business in 2017? What's next for me is to begin to touch more people by launching my online membership wellness program and creating my office as a Functional medicine practice. Functional medicine is based on getting to the root of patient’s health issues, and helping them truly improve when it comes to their health.
