Happy Black Business Month! Please introduce yourself and business: I am Dionne Greaves, The Mompreneur CEO. I am a Business Empowerment Coach & Mentor to corporate professional women who want to Master the Art of Balancing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship without sacrificing the people they love or the things they care about. I am a serial entrepreneur at heart and knew from a very young age that I wanted to have my own business. When children around my age were thinking about becoming doctors, lawyers and teachers I was busy dreaming about having my own business. My first business, which I started at age 18, was a babysitting service and was inspired by a children’s novel called The Babysitters Club. Since then I have had several businesses including an event planning company, administrative writing service, vision board company and online baby store before stepping into the coaching industry and launching my own talk show. It was never my desire to work for anyone and because I always held the belief that having my own business would allow me the freedom to make my own choices and enable me to make the best use of my creative abilities. I am not afraid to fail and would not hesitate to launch any business. Because of this, I strongly believe that anyone can become an entrepreneur by simply tapping into one area of their unique genius - it could be a skill, knowledge or expertise - and monetize it to get started.
This is exactly how I work with the clients I’ve been privileged to serve in my business. I empower them to use the skills, knowledge and expertise they already possess, along with the unique strategies taught in my program to regain time freedom, create new income options and awaken their boldness within so they can live the life they want. By profession, I am an Executive Administrative Specialist with more than ten years experience across several industries including medical, shipping, logistics and telecommunications. I am also a proud wife and mom - my son is a vibrant three-year old and my husband is the pastor and founder of our ministry in which I am also a co-pastor. My personal mantra “Change your narrative and you will live your best life” is one of the driving forces behind my business. It keeps me motivated and focused on my mission to help other women embrace entrepreneurship as they discover their God-ordained purpose and passionately pursue Him. What makes you unique in your industry? I took on the challenge to balance my demanding career, build a new business and launch several projects, while taking a hands-on approach to motherhood and ministry during a world crisis - now if that combined with my entrepreneurship journey does not make me unique, what else does? I have mastered and leveraged the art of saying no and exercised powerful negotiation skills in my career to create the flexibility that is needed to support my family and my business. I teach my clients by example, the true power that lies in authenticity and unleashing their voice so they can make a difference where it matters and be confident doing so. My clients never leave the same after working with me because the level of transformation experience is supernatural. Please share your top 3 most proud accomplishments to-date: I started my coaching business and launched my very own talk show smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. I was discovered by a coach who saw my abilities and introduced me to this brand new world where I could empower more women to do amazing things. This new way of thinking was a huge game-changer for me and led to the official launch of my coaching business and talk showing August 2020! I became a Brainz Magazine Executive Contributor and made their 2020 Global List less than six months in business. I was approached by Brainz Magazine about becoming an Executive Contributor and was also one of 500 featured honoree on their Global List of Entrepreneurs, Influential Leaders, Companies and Business Owners who were recognized for their entrepreneurial success, achievements, and dedication to helping others. I hosted my first virtual summit and was invited as a speaker to my first virtual international summit. In honor of International Women’s Day I hosted my first ever virtual live summit - HerStory. I pulled it off in two weeks with five speakers and more than 50 attendees in tow! Two months after that I was invited to speak at my first international virtual summit and was pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback from my session. Any advice to other women in your industry? Collaboration and community are key to success because no man (or woman) is an island. Good healthy business relationships with like-minded persons in your industry will be a game-changer especially when it comes to attracting the right opportunities. There is more than enough room and more than enough light for all of us to shine at the top. Pushing someone else down to get there is not the best or wisest path to success. Look around and see who else is there for you to motivate, inspire, or mentor because success is only as good as those you can help to empower along the way. And lastly, always position yourself to SERVE - support, encourage, respect, value and empower - others first! What is next for you in 2021 and how can readers connect with you online? Truthfully, I am ready to take the world by storm and plan on taking some future powerhouse women with me! I’m especially excited about doing this because it’s my personal mission to empower women all across the globe to show up boldly, confidently, and fiercely in the world so that they can live their best life authentically. I am currently co-authoring an anthology with some phenomenal women in the industry! It is slated to be published in the coming weeks and I am super-excited to share this opportunity so stay tuned! I am also in the process of relaunching my Exclusive VIP Mentorship Program for the woman who believes that the world is her stage and is ready to evolve into the game-changer she was meant to be.
