Jessica Reese came to call South Carolina home in 1999. Upon graduating from Spellman College in Atlanta, Georgia, she accepted a position with a Fortune 5 company in Sales & Marketing, married her high school sweetheart, and had her only son. After much thought and prayer, she made the decision to step out on faith to pursue her lifelong dream of thriving in the beauty industry. Shortly before graduating from Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology in 2006, The Pynk Butterfly brand was birthed in the form of the first of 5 salons that were to be opened. (The Pynk Butterfly Hair Studio, The Pynk Butterfly Glamour Spa, The Pynk Butterfly Signature Salon & Spa and The Pynk Butterfly Salon). The Pynk Butterfly brand has extended itself to a line of hair care products, apparel and exotic hair.
From styling celebrities, to being on set for photoshoots and movies, Jessica Reese is a woman everyone should know! Tell us about your business. Jessica Reese: The PYNK Butterfly is a beauty brand where beauty meets evolution. Under the brand there is The Salon by PYNK (professional hair salon), PYNK Products (superior hair care products), and The PYNK Academy (advanced training for licensed beauty professionals). What inspired you to go into this industry? Jessica Reese: I’ve always know that the beauty industry was where my heart and passion laid, however after graduating from college I joined corporate America. My desire to be an example of “following your dreams” to my newborn son 15 years ago was the inspiration I needed to push me to follow my passion. What thoughtful/encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self? Jessica Reese: Throughout my life I have always put a lot of pressure on myself to excel and to do it within a certain timeframe. It seemed as though I was always rushing to complete a project/task and looking back I would advise my younger self to slow down and enjoy the process.
