Read the full interview with Julie Wadley below! Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
This is Julie Wadley and I am a life and relationship coach. I am the owner of Eli Simone, LLC, boutique matchmaking and coaching company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. I focus on bold, brilliant, and beautiful black women because I believe it’s time that WE took charge of this area. We as black women are leaders, trend setters, and history makers, yet as a whole, we seem to be struggling in the love and relationship area. I want to reverse the pervasive narrative of the strong, independent, lonely black woman. What inspired your pursuits? I always knew that I would own a business, but wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. In one of many deep conversations with my sister on love, life, relationships, and happiness, I decided that I would help people bring more love in their lives. It seems that in this day and age, we are more concerned with acquiring money, influence, and power. History has shown that not only does this NOT bring happiness, it is arguably a usurper of true joy and fulfillment. I decided that if I wanted to leave a mark on this earth, I would be a champion for the things that matter most. Living an authentic life surrounded by the people who love you the most. What advice would you have for those interested in a similar pursuit? My advice would be to work at your own pace and not be tempted to compare yourself to someone else’s path or results. It’s extremely hard to block out who is doing what, how much someone else is making, and who has the most likes, followers, and media attention. Just ignore it and concentrate on honing your craft, identifying what you makes you unique, and being clear on who you want to serve. You don’t have to help everyone; you can’t and you won't. Choose your specific lane and be the best and brightest in that lane. Be centered in why you chose your profession in the first place and respect your journey. Define success for yourself and remember that when no one else seems to be cheering for you, cheer for yourself! What is next for your business/brand in 2016? I have a book in my head that I’ve been wanting to put on paper for the longest time, but have not had the time nor the right words to put down. My next step is to take the advice I give to my clients and just do it! It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to BE. How can readers connect with you online and through social media?
