Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care CEO Opens Up About Life, Advice and Accomplishments
LaMora D. Pace is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Relationship Expert who helps individuals build healthier relationships with themselves and others. It can be incredibly helpful to get an outside assessment from an expert in the areas of mental health and relationships, such as LaMora.
I sat down with LaMora to find out more about what it means for her to be a CEO and why she decided to start her own company on the mission to help individuals build a healthier relationship with themselves and others.
What inspired you to become a CEO and found your own company?
As the Founder and CEO of Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care, a private Counseling Practice in Hollywood, Florida and Founder of The Power King™️, I wanted to help individuals and couples succeed both individually and relationally. I know that sounds so cliché but after 20 years in Executive Leadership for a Behavioral Health and Foster Care organization, I grew tired of seeing people suffering silently, especially young men of color. And my title as “Director” no longer afforded me the opportunity to work directly with clients. I knew then that my skills and knowledge as a Director could be utilized in another way. And that’s when I decided to start Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care.
What has been your most exciting accomplishment to date?
Overall, I am proud of the rapid growth of Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care since its inception in September 2017, and the opportunities that have been provided to me to serve over 450 individuals and couples and conduct workshops for government organizations, non-profits, churches, and in partnership with other mental health professionals.
My most exciting accomplishment occurred in March 2021 when I launched The Power King™️, a program exclusively for men. I believe that, “the Power of a Man is in His Determination to Heal™️,” and I come in contact with many men with a desire to heal from childhood traumas and unhealthy patterns of behavior but they lack the tools and resources to do so. This is where I come in!
Additionally, Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care works in collaboration with my non-profit, Obstacles 2 Opportunities to break the vicious cycle of “learned helplessness” amongst at-risk youth that is shrinking in fear, living in doubt, and self-medicating with drugs to avoid facing the powerless beliefs they’ve learned.
What two pieces of advice would you share with new CEOs starting out?
First and foremost, do what you love. It’s important to follow the visions that set your heart on fire and gives you drive and passion. Don’t copy someone else’s dream. The worst thing you can do is become successful at something you later realize that you don’t like.
Secondly, know that early on you’re going to have to make sacrifices. You may have to work long hours at the start, and this can become challenging, but once you are established and can hire people to help you, it will be worth it. It’s not so much about you becoming your own Boss, but more about living your dream. If becoming a CEO as an entrepreneur was easy, everyone would do it.
What is next for you in 2021?
The Power King™️! The Power King™️ was developed to encourage, restore, and nurture men to a place of success within their family, career, and community. I consider this program unique because The Power King is woman led, providing services to and a safe space for men that were taught to be strong, show no emotions, learned nothing about love and relationships, and believes it’s okay to have multiple partners and disregard commitment. During childhood, many men have admitted to being asked as young boys, “How many girlfriends do you have?” While also being encouraged to have more than one girlfriend and when they did, they were praised for doing so. These experiences send a clear message to men that monogamy and manhood don’t mix.
I am also focusing more attention on relationships and helping individuals to build healthier relationships with themselves and others. I strongly believe that self-love has to come first before the true, authentic love can be shared with others.
I hope to continue to expand my reach to clients in the South Florida area and beyond. I believe in my methods and have seen them work for numerous people. It’s important to heal from traumatic experiences and unhealthy patterns of behavior, prioritize self-love and remain open to learning new ways of doing things. When individuals decide to get help and get in touch with their true selves, magical things can happen.
