Introduce yourself and brand to our readers:
Hey to the Glambitious world. My name is Violesia Tull and if there was a few words to describe myself, for you to better know who I am. I would use the words fighter, go getter, and beautiful. I've always felt growing up that my business sense would compensate for the lack of beauty and confidence that I had in myself. The truth is, everything I thought I lacked was in me all the while. It was my thoughts that held my eyes captive. I started the journey with entrepreneurship between 14 or 15 years of age. I landed my 1st corporate clients to name a few. Clients such as Baltimore Pimlico Race Tracks, Baltimore Urban League, Northwestern High School. My relationship with my clients. Was for me to make badge buttons with their company logo's and or sayings. I really enjoyed every moment of the process. From setting up meeting, designing the buttons and hand making them. I'm now a Certified Style Tour Guide founder of Fashionably Chic Tour. Where I have the pleasure of taking women on these amazing shopping excursion. Merging history with fashion which makes that a unique and resourceful shopping experience. What inspired you to build this type of brand? I've always enjoy the whole boutique life. Considering I've always wanted to be a boutique owner. But at the time I allowed fear to hold me back. I had to get this and that right first.( FYI if you're waiting on getting things in place before you decide to do your purpose. Life is going to always remain out of place. So that you'll never fulfill your mission and that which is "out of place" will continue to be your excuse for not moving forward!) I thought what a great experience it would be to take women on a luxury motorcoach to all these chic boutiques. As well as giving women a shopping experience that will allow them to walk away feeling great while looking fabulous! And plus it's not much overhead!lol What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? I most certainly would say research, build your list, be big on relationships and networking. Because this isn't a task you can't do on your own. Learn about the beauty of your city and it's attractions. I can't begin to tell how long I lived in Baltimore. Heck I was raised here and had not really had an authentic connection. Until I started exploring, seeing Baltimore in the eyes of a tourist and meeting new people. That I've grown in my appreciate for what my city has to offer! Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: There's many challenges that I've faced and will continue to. If I can focus on that one. I would say getting people to catch the idea even if they never seen it done before. I would hear people say to me. This boutique tour idea is such a great concept. But there lack of support on what I was seeking to accomplish showed how much they really believed in the concept. Even from the standpoint of boutiques. It's great when I say I'm bringing my guest to shop. But when I share with them the expectations from them. The whole concept goes south!lol I've overcome those challenges by just simply moving forward, with the mindset that Fashionably Chic Tour isn't for everyone or for every boutique. But there is , however; a few women who would enjoy making their shopping an amazing experience while shopping local and a boutique who would appreciate me bringing her. What is next for your brand/business in 2016? Getting prepared for 2017. Which will be an amazing year. As this year is coming to a close. We're having a tour Dec 9th through Dec. 31st 2016 Dash...Into Style We've compiled an amazing collection of our favorite boutiques and luscious eateries in and around the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Dash...Into Style tours are designed to give you a taste of unique shopping experiences mounted with the excitement of tag slashing and fun. Register bit.ly/DashIntoStyle How can readers connect with you online and through social media? Most certainly connect with me via Periscope, Facebook ,and Instagram at Fashionablychictour and on Twitter as FashNablychictour and our website Fashionablychictour.com If I may I would like to offer your readers that's in the DMV area a discount $10 off. for our Dash...Into Style Tour Dec. 9th. Meaning there registration fee would be $25.00 to the 1st 15 women. Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
My name is Elizabeth Grice. I’m a multi-preneur. I co-own Talented Fingers American Sign Language Interpreting Service (Houston, TX) and own the Lizzabit-TEE Boutique. Both entities focus on deaf culture awareness. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I’ve been around the deaf community since I was 7 years old. I found a fondness of the language at that time and have been engrossed within the community since. I’m a former teacher of the deaf in the United States and abroad. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? In order to be consistent your dreams and passions to be continuous mainstays in your life. I’ve been around the deaf community for over 30 years and I still find newness in my passion. Be steadfast in all you do and pursue it boldly! Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: Recently, I had to shut the doors of my child development center due to a major pest infestation and a landlord disagreement. I’m continuing to live in my purpose by aggressively promoting deaf culture awareness and getting the businesses out to the public. What I have found, each time I attend a speech & hearing, interpreter conference, deaf expo etc, I’m the only black woman vendor. This makes me very proud. I provide unique items for this community and I want all others to hear their voices. What is next for your brand/business in 2016? The future would be to expand our interpreters into major commercial markets. This will give a new spotlight for the deaf community locally and nationally. This year we introduced a new collection of black culture hoodies. The line is entitled Conscious Collection. We will continue to expand as needed to meet market demands. I’m Lorra Brown, the CEO and founder of LBE Consulting, LLC; with locations in Texas, Arkansas, and Georgia. I’ve been practicing accounting for about 16 years, with emphasis on small business, tax planning, and compliance for business and high net worth individual clients. Our firm is a full-service accounting, and tax firm dedicated to providing our clients with professional, and personalized service. I’ve been exposed to a variety of businesses and have an excellent knowledge of most industries. My firm serves clients in a wide range of industries, including medium size manufacturing and construction companies, realtors, professional service practices, and non-profit entities. We are very committed to providing our clients with professional service and exceeding their expectations. I’m a contributor to EvanCarmichael.com, and the author of the Entrepreneurs New Business Kit published early 2016 this book was written to help entrepreneurs build a solid business foundation. I’ve been interviewed and a featured guest on many radio shows and podcasts. I’m also a professional speaker and trainer. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I always wanted to be an accountant and own my own business. While attending college, I very quickly realized that accounting was much more than just numbers, and that the profession had so much to offer. I knew accounting was the right choice as I discovered I could specialize in various areas of interest to me. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? The door is wide open! I would encourage those who are looking to pursue a career in accounting or own their own business to add some components to their education in entrepreneurial studies, marketing and public speaking. Accounting is far more than the standard accounting curriculum of what universities require. You must be able to leverage technology and stay up to date, being able to provide you clients with a personal experience. Accountants are more than numbers crunchers and you need to be able to display that value to your clients. Remember accounting is not only about math, it is about analysis, problem solving, and communication of concepts, it’s important to have all these skills. The tax law is very vast and complex and you need to be able to solve problems and show your clients you’re able to change it for them. Seize the opportunities in accounting and tax the profession is unlimited. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: I had an issue of competing with unqualified accountants. In these times, it easy for anyone to create a website and start a business from home. I’m very much for entrepreneurship, when dealing with businesses and individuals I think you need to be able to perform the work. During my research I found that when it come to choosing an accountant to work with, only 8% of small businesses looked at the person’s qualifications. The accounting/ tax industry doesn’t have regulatory laws in place, unlike doctors or lawyers, anyone can perform bookkeeping or do taxes without any real formal training. I dealt with businesses taking advice from those who were unqualified, representing taxpayers whose tax returns were filed incorrectly. I realized that receiving bad advice reflects badly on the whole profession. I decided to educate individuals and businesses on bookkeeping, accounting and tax issues. By doing this and always continuing to learn and being able to serve a changing industry, I’ve become a trusted advised to many. This has allowed me to grow my business and provide multiple services to clients and build a group of trusted advisors to assist our client’s needs. What is next for your brand/business in 2016? Specializing in serving small and mid-sized businesses consulting services. This will allow clients revenue to increase 10 to 30 percent. These type of consulting services will allow businesses to grow and thrive in the future. They will be equipped with the roadmap for profitability and overall success. Business owners who are fully committed, will learn how to build a solid business. By becoming part of their team and working with them to make the necessary changes that will enable them to be ranked with the top profitable companies. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
I knew that i always wanted to be on TV since a little girl. I wanted to experience all the different emotions and personalities that I was seeing on the television. Then as I got older I saw, heard and was exposed to so much in life but always wondered why nobody ever talked about this stuff. Then of course there was Ricky Lake and the now Powerhouse Oprah Winfrey! I watched and watched Oprah sit down with all kinds of people and I heard her ask questions and talk about things that nobody would normally touch. And that’s when I knew that I wanted to what I then called “Personal TV” (because back then I didn’t really know how to interpret what I wanted to do). Well long story short, later in life I began to research on how to film and pitch a Talk Show. Because there was so much still inside of me and so many things still go on in the world and so many people hurting, I was now ready to do something or better yet “Say Something!”. I meet so many people that are doing great things in the community, yet if they just had an outlet, they could have so much help and more to offer. I have a passion for people, whether they have a gazillion followers or not. I just have a passion for people and their stories (cause we all have one) and I believe the world needs to hear them. I push others to Live On Purpose and in order to do that, they have to Say Something, and that alone inspires me to present this platform. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? I would share that it is a TON of work but not impossible. I would tell them to make sure that this is something you are really passionate about and want to succeed in. Don’t do anything for the sake of following a trend, chasing money or for the fame. All those things will get you is a train wreck and plenty of stress along the way. I would also tell them to get ready to go thru and overcome the 4 following seasons, but being sure to never give up:
Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: When I first set out to produce “Say Something! w/Chere’” I really didn’t have the funds nor did I expect it to be this big so fast. Everytime I sat down to write the treatment and add all the bells and whistles that kept adding up, I felt like just giving up. I had no clue how I was going to do all these things in my head. I thought “who’s going to help little ole me put a spotlight on everyday people doing great things everyday? Everyone is always talking about celebrities this and celebrities that…” I had started to convince myself that nobody wanted to hear about “regular” people. But something inside of me said “just ask” and I thought WOW! well that’s pretty simple… and I did just that. I began to ask people around me and they said YES. So as silly as it may seem, the biggest professional challenge that I have ever had to face has been knowing when to open my mouth and ask for help. What is next for your brand/business in 2016?
