Wow! Whenever I am asked to introduce myself or tell someone about myself, I take a big sigh, because there is so much to me!!! I heard a message recently by Simon T. Bailey where he shares about an experience he had with a man in another country that totally resonated with me. When Simon asked the man what he did, the man responded by saying that he is a “slashey.” Simon was confused and asked the man to expound. The man responded by saying that he was x slash, y slash, z slash. So, I am a “slashey” – a preacher/attorney/best selling author/entrepreneur/Equal Employment Opportunity-Diversity expert/executive leadership coach to senior executives/coach and confidante to women leaders in ministry and the marketplace. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? The essence of who I am and what I do is advocacy. I always knew that I was called to advocate for those who either wouldn’t or couldn’t speak up for themselves. This spirit of advocacy showed itself as early as 9-years-old when I was in the 3rd grade. I found myself in many altercations for “minding other people’s business,” especially when I felt like there was an injustice taking place. Of course, this mouth of mine caused my mom a whole lot of headaches! LOL I am still very much the person who will speak up when others won’t. I have come to grips with the fact that this is who I am in the earth, and I was built to take on systems that seek to oppress and depress others. Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
Hello my name is Nicolya Williams I am a best-selling author and a personal development coach. I help busy women conquer their chaos and turn their message into their masterpiece. My ultimate goal is to help women who have a story, something important that they know needs to be shared with the world get it out into the hands of the masses What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? The funny thing about my business is that was a God-given idea. I don't know a single person who owns a business to be able to ask questions to, but I just kept feeling this urgent pull to start my own business. When I started my business I knew that I wanted to help motivate and empower women to be the best that they could possibly be. I had no idea how I was going to go about that. One day God laid on my heart to write a book and from there the floodgates opened. I started working with women who also wanted to write a book and I helped them to find time, resources and support no matter where they are at in life. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? Many women desire to write their book while they still have plenty of other things they are juggling. Maybe they are a mother, they may be a wife and they may have a full-time job. I can relate to this because I was once a busy overwhelmed woman who felt led to write a book. I also felt that it could never happen due to all of the hats that I was wearing. The first thing that women must recognize is that in order to be effective in any one area in your life you must put yourself first. It reminds me a lot of the airplane phenomenon when you're on an airplane if it were to crash the flight attendant informs you that in order to save someone you must put your face mask on yourself first and then you can put the facemask on the other people. The first time I heard this phenomenon it was so abstract. Now I understand it well and it applies to reality as well as applies to the airplane circumstance. If you want to be effective you have to be willing to make your goals and your desires as a priority. Without doing so you'll become resentful, angry and even bitter. So chose today to make your book writing goal a priority and it will be done in no time. Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
