Peace & Blessings Glambitious Readers! Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Nisaa Showell. Born and raised in Philadelphia, I am a dreamer by nature, and I believe we are here to be of service to one another. Like all of us, I'm striving to achieve greatness. A word that can take on many different meanings but greatness to me means my family and I being close knit and living happily and healthy, me; being pleasing to GOD, treating people well, and creating a concrete future for the next generation. Coincidentally, it was my dad who sparked my interest in the insurance industry. My dad is a man's man, such a provider, protector, and a library of knowledge. Ironically, as a youth, I didn't always listen; now I soak up his every word like a sponge. When I was growing up, my dad laid out a plan for me to always get good grades in school, get a job when I turned sixteen, and to go to college when I graduated from high school. So that's what I did, not necessarily because I wanted to but because I had to. Because of that, I became a little rebellious, so I didn't do my best when I started my college career at Penn State in the fall of 1998. Still, I remained in attendance through my junior year, but I didn't finish at that time, instead I joined the work force. My dad told me I should get my insurance license because that was a great way for me to have my own business so he paid for me to take the classes, which I did but I did not take the state exam that followed. I just had to do things my way, the hard way. They say a smart person learns from his mistakes, but a wise person learns from other people’s mistakes and I can wholeheartedly say that I have become wiser as I've matured, and I have learned from my experiences.
I went back to school as an adult learner and made it my mission to graduate with honors and that's exactly what I did when I completed my studies at Chestnut Hill College in 2009. I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Communications and I was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honors Society in recognition of high scholastic achievement for business, management, and administration. I am licensed to sell all insurances including property & casualty, accident & health, and life & fixed annuities. Please feel free to contact me for any of your insurance needs whether it's for yourself and your family or yourself and your business. Entrepreneurs have a unique and specific need for insurance and not just insurance, but the right insurance. It could be the difference between having general versus professional liability insurance, or putting a buy-sell agreement in place if you're in business with a partner, making sure your tools are covered if you're a contractor, or something as simple as ensuring that the vehicle you are using in the commission of your business has commercial coverage as opposed to personal. All these things can seem so mundane, until you find out that even though you've been paying your monthly or annual premium for years, your claim has been denied because you don't have the right coverage in place. As an insurance professional, with over twenty years of experience in customer service management, it is important to me to make sure I customize my client’s insurance policies based on their individual needs and that they have an adequate and proper insurance protection plan in place. As we move farther into 2019 and beyond, I am expanding my knowledge and service base by studying to earn my series six, sixty-three, and seven to be able to offer financial products and become even more of a one-stop shop for my clients as a wealth manager. Please add me on FaceBook, nisaa.showell, for tips, insight, and updates and feel free to e-mail me for your very own insurance review at nisaa.jhellenbrand1@farmersagency.com, or give me a call at the office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 215-672-2202. Cheers! Tell us about yourself and business: I am an empowerment coach who help people choose life, I started Life Ministries based on my own mess becoming ministry, I lost my mom to suicide at nine years old, we never mentioned my mom after her passing, This led me wanting to have a deeper understanding of why someone would choose to take their own life, I learned all I could but never dealt with the grief I experienced or mourned her death. It was twenty years later, when I decided to some healing work on myself by starting at the event where my life first changed. After I finally grieved that loss and healed from the trauma, I started to publicly speak about suicide ideation and my own story of what life was like after this experience while living in Jamaica. This help me to understand that my voice was needed in this space. I then migrated to the Texas in June 2014, in 2018- I started to miss the personal touch with people and seeing the transformation that one receives when they realize that they are not alone. This inspired me to register Life Ministries / Empowerment Coaching where I coach loss survivors on how to thrive by helping them choose life.
What inspired you to pursue this area of interest: My motivation now is to see loss survivors experience freedom and not just survive but thrive - no longer carrying the weight of their experiences. I exemplify the transformation one can achieve after they decide to grab life by the horns and push through the innate and unexplained guilt, shame and unworthiness they experience after feeling abandoned and rejected by a loved one. I no longer live with the need to please and seek out my value by over serving those around me. I understand and accept that I am a child of God and loved by my Creator. I now live in a constant state of gratitude no matter what comes my way. I understand my response to life’s challenges will always direct the outcome that I experience in life. Life is not happening to us; our responses change everything. While I would love to see everyone choose life it’s a stark reality that hope is lacking in our society hence someone could always make the personal choice to take their own life. My own experience and observing what I was seeing around me inspired me to pursue this area of interest as suicide is still a taboo subject in most corners of the world and in our community. Describe your most proud moment in business to-date: The moment I was called an entrepreneur and owned it as well as the moment I became a registered business owner in United States of America. I am originally from the island of Jamaica where owning my own business would not be as assessable as it is here and for that I am grateful. What is next for you in 2019? I am one of the coauthors of a book launching in August called The Queen Boss Rise. I am also working on my own book and will also coauthor a devotional which will be launching in October 2019. Being a woman and a minority. I feel it's more difficult for people to take me seriously. It's ironic how it never fails that my husband always gets called Dr. Musielak and somehow I become Delene. I have also learned that other women having difficulties seeing other women succeed, instead of supporting them. Tell us something no one knows you like?? (Something funny and Exciting) I really enjoy rapping. When I was younger, I started to write Christian rap songs. After starting medical school, I didn't have enough time to pursue it just because I was so busy studying. Each year after that, something else came up. Residency training, boards, family, the triplets, etc. However, one day, I would love to do it again and maybe have my own album =) What direction do you feel that we as women in business can do to continue to trailblaze for the next generation of women in business? Be mentors. Encourage and lift other females up instead of competing. What exciting project are you working on? I am currently in the process of publishing my first children's book! That should be coming in July/August 2019. Later this year, I am hoping to publish a Mommy & Me Devotional. What final words do you want to share? Never give up! If you have something or multiple things you want to accomplish, do it! Don't let doubt win, because you never know what successes you can have unless you try. Dr. Musielak’s goal is to impact those around her by encouraging and empowering them to reach their maximum potential. She enjoys sharing her own life experiences to help others.
