Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: Hello, my name is Candie Dionne Thompson, CEO of The Travel Socialite. I'm a proud mother of four which will always be my biggest accomplishment. I have extensive background in real estate with over 10yrs as a luxury real estate agent. A love for real estate and travel with a passion for helping others created The Travel Socialite. My number one mission is to help 100 women become CEO's. while using travel as a gateway. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I was inspired to start the #100women100ceo's platform to help women create that plan B. We are raised to go to college, get a job, work until we are 65 and live off of our retirement and what little social security we get. Well, I didn't graduate from college, and to me my biggest fear is living paycheck to paycheck once I retire. I want to give women options, I want to create wealth, I want to establish business owners. As women, we love to travel so I figured mixing travel and entrepreneurship would be the perfect marriage. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? I would advise them to follow their dream. Stay passionate about what you want. Trust God, and put in the work. Owning a business and establishing a brand takes hard work but the reward is so worth it at the end. Their will be Naysayers but never listen to them, ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOU!!

Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
Hello, my name is Helen M. Kennedy, sole proprietor of HMK Coaching & Consulting. I hold certifications as a Professional Coach, Entrepreneurship, Master Your Finances Instructor, and Chaplaincy. I authored and self-published my first book, “He Heals the Brokenhearted: Living and Loving After Rejection,” and provide editing services for other writers. In 2010, I founded and serve as the Senior Pastor of Sanctuary of Living Waters, my second pastorate, and The Community Empowerment Organization (The C.E.O., Inc.), a non-profit entity reorganized in 2014, which serves Broward County, Florida with a youth mentoring program, credit repair and restoration services, parenting classes and family empowerment services. I am a mother of 5 sons and a daughter, and a grandmother of 10. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? At the age of 56, one week before Christmas in 2012, I was laid-off as a family law paralegal, a field which I enjoyed for 7 of 13 years as a paralegal. It was then I decided to start my own business. The year of 2008 was a period of extreme hardship (my husband passed away to cancer a few years earlier, and I lost my home just 6 months prior). During one of my early morning devotions, I was compelled to write my dreams in a journal. One of them was the establishment of “HMK Coaching & Consulting.” Upon notice that I would no longer be employed, due to economic reasons of my employer, my plan kicked into action and on January 1, 2013, I launched my coaching and consulting business. For most of my adult life, I have been the “go to” person for information and/or direction. I found myself constantly speaking with people about their life issues, goals, and dreams, beyond the pastoral ministry. Because I’m innately a researcher and visionary, assisting individuals in navigating their ideas, hopes and aspirations has almost become first nature. I recognize that what I have is a gift from Almighty God, and I want to be a good steward of what He has given me. Charity is a great leader, counselor and worldwide encourager. Lipman, MD, FSIR, Medical Director of the Atlanta Fibroid Center (http://AtlantaFibroidCenter.com). Guests enjoyed red carpet arrivals, an intimate reception with trumpeter Melvin M. Miller, catering by Akoma Events, special giveaways and a post-screening meet-and-greet with Cynthia Bailey. Atlanta Mayoral candidate Kwanza Hall and Atlanta City Council candidate Erika Y. Mitchell attended to support Fibroid Awareness as well. The Master of Ceremonies, Dr. Millard J. Collier kept the show lively with his dynamic style. Peter Morrison, theatre manager and magician extraordinaire, provided production support for the event. Cast members in attendance included Wayne & Gwen Tyler, Constance Barnett, Carmen McKever, Cie Cie, Wilson-McGhee, Robie West and Lauren Hawkins. Presented by the Atlanta Fibroid Center and narrated by Monica Pearson, the documentary explored the journey of Cynthia Bailey and other patients that suffered with fibroids and did not want surgery. Surgery was the only option given to these women until they found Dr. Lipman and the Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) procedure. As a community awareness effort, Dr. Lipman created the documentary to educate women on the non-surgical treatment for fibroids. UFE treats the symptoms of fibroids, for example, heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain and increased urinary frequency. UFE avoids all of the surgical risks and long recovery, and allows women to keep their uterus. Immediately following the screening, Dr. Lipman moderated a Q&A segment with the audience to further discuss fibroids and their treatment. Dr. Lipman began offering UFE as a fibroid treatment over 20 years ago. He is considered the world's most experienced UFE physician, with over 6,000 procedures performed, and is well-known throughout the Georgia medical community for his work with fibroid sufferers and UFE. Dr. Lipman is a respected UFE expert who is often called upon to provide commentary on uterine fibroids and UFE on major television networks. The global medical community recognizes his expertise and personalized care by referring him patients from throughout the US and abroad. My name is Tiffany Smith and I am the owner of Dream Team Consulting LLC. Dream Team Consulting LLC is a company made up of individuals with different backgrounds and areas of expertise that came together for the purpose of sharing our knowledge with people who are interested in pursing their dreams. Whether you dream of owning your own business or just getting your personal finances in order, we offer services that can help. What inspired you to start your business? I was inspired to start this business after leaving one of the largest financial institutions in the world. I worked as a financial adviser for AIG and when they closed their offices in Michigan I decided to go into business for myself. I had no experience running a business and I didn't really know anyone who owned a business before so, it took a lot of trail and error. I figured it had to be a lot of other people out there struggling to establish their own business or pursue their financial goals and it would be great to have a place they could go that offered multiple resources under one roof. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? I would advice them to go for it! Knowledge is the key to achieving anything! It doesn't take a fancy degree or a rich family background to live the life you want. Whatever you want to do in life you have to be willing to work for it and keep working at it. Owning a business is far harder than working for someone else but the rewards are worth it. I advise them to develop thick skin as well because there will be a lot of failures on the path to success. What professional challenge have you overcome? The professional challenge I faced was being a young African American woman working in the financial industry. For centuries older white males have dominated this industry and it was hard to be taken seriously. I over came this challenge by educating myself and learning as much as I could to perfect my craft. Minorities get a lot of second hand information and are usually last on the list to learn about available resources. I made it my mission to educate other women and minorities on how to even the financial playing field. What is next for you and your brand? In 2017, we are expanding our services to include credit repair. Credit is so important in this country and having good credit can be a gateway to turning so many different dreams into reality. We not only plan to repair credit but to educate our clients on how to build credit and how to set their children up with a strong financial foundation. The mission of Ebony and Pink Pearls is to affirm women of all ages to know who they are in Christ; and to empower them to walk in purity, prayer and purpose. Taking the faith step to start my own business has been a ball of emotions, (excitement, joy and, full, etc.) Despite the unknown of where this business may take me, I am extremely passionate and absolutely love the purpose path God is leading for my life. |
