Healing Hearts Behavioral Health Care CEO Opens Up About Life, Advice and Accomplishments
LaMora D. Pace is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Relationship Expert who helps individuals build healthier relationships with themselves and others. It can be incredibly helpful to get an outside assessment from an expert in the areas of mental health and relationships, such as LaMora. I sat down with LaMora to find out more about what it means for her to be a CEO and why she decided to start her own company on the mission to help individuals build a healthier relationship with themselves and others. What inspired you to become a CEO?
I’ve always had that entrepreneurial bone ever since I was 18 but didn’t know what to do with it. Throughout the years I tried so many different work from home things in the pursuit of being my own boss but many of them were scams, didn’t make enough money or I was giving a percentage of my earnings away. I kinda pushed my passion to the back burner and pursued my corporate career because I thought it was the “norm” and what was expected of me. Please introduce yourself to our audience.
My name is Kera McCain, recently relocated from Los Angeles and now headquartered in Atlanta, GA. I’m a loving mommy and wife first. Beyond that, I solve digital marketing problems for entrepreneurs and small business executives daily through my agency, Marketing Experts For All (MEFA). We use Google, Facebook & Instagram and more, to precisely target people who show interest in our clients’ products and services. The ability to figure out authentic customer pain points and build a timeless connection to the brand that can solve it -- is our sweet spot! The process keeps me joyful and busy. What inspired you to become a CEO?
The possibility of transforming lives is not achieved without compassionate leaders, committed to an unyielding gift with a desire to inspire and empower others. After more than 23 years of working the grind in corporate America, I knew my mission in life was bigger than working for someone else. Creating a living legacy for myself, owing my own future, and having the ability to impact the lives of women was a dream unlike any other. Our power as leaders, businesswomen, and CEO’s allow us impact the world in a different way. I also believe there is power in allowing the next generation to see black women in positions as the head of organizations and visible in positions of authority. I also have a granddaughter and I want her to see her possibilities in me. My legacy is not only for me, but for her. photo credits - Amber Thompson| Golden Jewel Media What inspired you to become a CEO?
I don't know that I ever aspired to be a CEO but there came a point where I knew that I needed to do something different. I launched my PR agency in 2012 after about two years of doing some public relations work for my church and pastor. Even then, it wasn't about me being a CEO it was more about reconnecting with something that I enjoyed doing and helping others get their organizations local press coverage. I knew I was becoming a CEO in 2017 when I rebranded my agency and started viewing myself and my abilities in a different light. My thought process changed. The way I viewed perspective clients changed. The way I managed my work-life balanced changed to work-agency-life prioritization. I began to see myself with the ability to do something I love on my own terms and being fulfilled by the work that I was completing. At the end of 2017 I had a health scare that required me to make some changes and better manage my stress. What has truly inspired me to become a CEO and think like a CEO was knowing that I could do it, be successful in my own right and have more control over my life. It became necessary for me to value what I had built and use my passion to protect my peace. What inspired you to become a CEO?
Quite frankly, I was fed up! I spent many early mornings, late nights, and weekends for a Fortune 500 company in an effort to get a promotion. I put my all in serving this company, even to the detriment of my health, relationships, and sometimes personal goals. It took a little more than seven years, relocating states twice (in 18 months) to finally get a promotion. To show their appreciation for my dedication and hard work, my new role was reorganized twice within six months. The newest position served a death blow to the career I spent 20 years building. The best thing for me to do for my mental well-being was accept the severance package and mutually separate. A little more than a year later, I launched Destined for Greatness coaching and development program What inspired you to become a CEO?
I am a 22-year Corporate Technology veteran who moved lattice style from a Secretary into mission-critical senior leadership roles across Financial Services, Big 4 Consulting Healthcare & Higher Education. I leveraged my knowledge and experiences gained over the years to enter Drug Testing after my oldest son was murdered. I happened into Transportation Compliance, Waived Laboratory Testing, and now Health & Beauty. What inspired you to become a CEO?
What inspired me to become a CEO is the will to want to live by my own rules. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired of working for someone else building their dreams instead working to build my own dreams. I looked at the fact that they were never going to pay me my worth and no matter what I did they would never be satisfied. When I lost my job in corporate America I decided to take my destiny in my own hands and work for myself. What has been your most exciting accomplishment to date? The most exciting accomplishment to date is my first Magazine Cover feature as one of the top 50 powerful women in business. I was so elated to be asked to be a part of that project. I couldn’t believe people were watching me build my business from the ground up and actually wanted to tell my story as a rising CEO and Entrepreneur. Any two pieces of advice you would share with emerging CEOs? The first piece of advice I would give to emerging CEO’s is to don’t look back. You can’t change the past but you can definitely work towards the future. Whatever mistakes or decisions you’ve made in your life for forward progression never second guess it. It was supposed to happen that way. The second piece of advice I would give is to be consistent with your business. Nothing is built overnight and in order to reap the harvest of your investment you must continuously be diligent in working your business to yield the kind of success you’d like to have. What you put into something is definitely what you will get out of it. What’s next for you in 2021? What’s next for me in 2021 is building a phenomenal Confidence Coaching brand that will encourage and assist women in moving into their soul mission on this earth. My plight is to help women get rid of the negative self talk so that they can pursue their purpose in joy and in peace. How can readers connect with you online? I was inspired to become a CEO by my great grandma she owned and operated a day care and showed me what a “ Girl Boss” looks like, I truly never forgot and followed her lead. What has been your most exciting accomplishment to date? My most exciting accomplishment has been seeing my daughter learn and help in my businesses. She will be a Brown CEO in the future I just feel it. Any 2 pieces of advice you would share with emerging CEOs? Remember what you prayed for and why and don’t stop praying. Stay humble and never forget what it took to earn your seat at the table. What is next for you in 2021? I’m just praying for a successful and fruitful 2021. I’m praying I’ll pave the way for more brown female CEOs. To Connect with Raechelle follow: @dr.raek & @raechelletherealtor |
