Hello, I am Tiffany Robertson owner of SWEAR NYC. SWEAR NYC was started from a place of pain. I was in a domestic marriage, dealt in so much stress I ended up with alopecia and developed my line by reverting back to my childhood home remedies that grew my hair and made it thick. My mommy helped me with that. SWEAR NYC wasn’t started right away. I spent 5 years of research before launching my idea and that research gave me hope to really move forward and focus on my purpose despite what I was currently going through in my personal life. I knew I had to do something greater with myself and I did. And I birthed SWEAR NYC because I was mentally and emotionally ready to go full force with it without giving up.
Describe what makes you a Creative CEO:
I'm a Creative CEO because I use all of my God-given gifts and talents to create services and products tailor-made for those I am called to serve. Those talents have allowed me to build a 6-figure brand and I'm passionate about teaching others how to do the same.
Please introduce yourself and business:
I am Shani Godwin, founder and CEO of Communique USA and creator of the JOY EconomicsSM coaching program that teaches women entrepreneurs how to scale to 6 and 7-figures and beyond using their talents, gifts and stories so they can make more money, save more time, and have more joy along the way.
I know how committed you are to the success of your business. As a woman business owner, it can be hard running a business, pivoting, keeping up with family demands, Zoom schooling and still finding time for yourself.
I know because I've successfully run my marketing firm for the last 19 years through the after-math of 9/11, the recession of 2007-2008, an unexpected divorce, ongoing boughts with depression, a pandemic and more. You name it and I've been through it.
But through it all, I've determined the secret to success is being happy in my business, being at peace while I'm scaling it and building it in a way that creates more joy and happiness for me while making room for the things that matter most. It's really that simple. Now, I want to use my JOY EconomicsSM Coaching Program to help you do the same.
What 3 tips would you share with visionaries that feel stifled?
Avoid the belief that you have to chase the bag. Many times as women we feel the pressure to have it all and to pursue it all no matter what the cost. But when we operate like this, we find ourselves willing to take on any client, as long as they pay us, or we end up staying in bad business relationships, just because we want to chase the bag. Regrettably, this leaves us feeling drained and empty inside.
In reality, we should really take the time to assess what’s most important and valuable to us, and, where our gifts and talents genuinely lie -- then we should take the time to align our lives with these components. When we do this, some of us may realize that having a million company may not be what’s best for us, but it may be having a $200,000 a year company that still allows you to make money but have time to enjoy other things that matter to you the most. When you align yourself with your gifts and talents you will come to understand that you don’t have to chase the bag, but the bag will start to chase you, and in a healthier more balanced way.
Don’t Diminish Small Beginnings. Sometimes as women we are embarrassed to have small things. We are embarrassed to have a small company, or a small staff or just a few clients. But at the end of the day remember, it’s not about the size of your company but it’s about the profitability of your company.
You can have a large company, but the company may be costing you tons of expenses just to run it. You may even have a huge client, but you have to spend thousands of extra dollars on busines insurance and staffing costs, just to do business with them. Remember bigger does not always mean better. So, don’t be afraid to scale back, if necessary, and to reduce expenses and even reduce overhead. By doing so it will allow you to be more profitable and have more peace. “Profitability is the goal which equals Joy, Peace, Happiness and Freedom.
Remember All Business Is Not Good Business. In fact, holding on to a toxic business client can be just like having an ex-boyfriend that never seems to go away. You have technically broken it off with him but because he still has stuff at your house, he keeps popping in and out at any time he wants to. But when he disappears, you feel mis-used and mis-treated and uncared for. If a client is constantly mis-treating you, or promising you that more work is coming but they never deliver, or they require that you have to jump through ten hoops just to do business with them – then it may be time to cut them off.
Remember, healthy growth can never take place when dead weight is laying around. Consider this, when we as women have to do our hair each day, some of us see the dry split ends but we only want to keep putting moisturizer on them instead of cutting them off. But everyone knows that your hair will only grow if you cut it off. So my advice is to cut off the “split ends” or dry relationships in your business and personal life, or, simply cut back and prune some operational expenses in your business, so you can produce more value. When you do this, get ready for new things to sprout up and grow.
What is next for you in 2021?
2021 is all about me helping women entrepreneurs to scale and grow so I will be fully dedicated to rolling out my JOY EconomicsSM coaching program for women who want to leverage the currency of JOY to achieve a high-level of success on their terms and according to the things that make them inextricably happy.

Is there a motivational quote or affirmation that inspires you?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
