What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I come from a family of 7 children. As the middle child, I had three older brothers who graduated from juvenile halls to prison walls. I knew I did not want to go the route they did, but I also wanted to better understand what contributed to their choices psychologically. I discovered significant trauma was the root cause of their often violent and impulsive behaviors. I wanted to help my brothers and others in my family heal in a way that praying alone could not. God lead me to the field of counseling and I truly believe I am walking in my purpose by helping others change their lives. What 2 professional tips would you share with readers who desire to be successful in your industry? 1) When in doubt consult, consult, consult! 2) Bring your true authentic self into every session with your client. The need to help others understand who they are. After being one who battled with mental illness and was told I could never recover has been a driving source for me to give back to others. So, now I want to help others understand how toxic thoughts can affect their entire life and cause them to live beneath their privilege. What has been your most exciting accomplishment to date? The lives that are being transformed! The looks, tears, and excitement on the faces of my clients speak volumes to me. It is nothing like seeing someone when they are truly getting it. When they embrace the true greatness that has been locked up inside of them for years brings me great excitement. Any 2 pieces of advice you would share with emerging CEOs? My first piece of advice is to always be a servant to others and God will make sure doors continue to open for you. Secondly, make continual investments in yourself. We must know that there is always more to learn and we should never be content with where we are. What is next for you in 2021? A year of great focus and manifestation. I have so many other endeavors that I will be developing and being apart of in the year 2021. How can readers connect with you online?
