Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
Hey Beauties! My name is Star Johnson and I'm a Licensed Aesthetician specializing in beauty treatments and skin care. I'm the owner of BeautyMark Studio in Atlanta and when I'm not enhancing beauty I'm writing! I'm the author of Love Drug Book Series! What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? Actually I ran from the beauty industry, I thought it wasn't for me. My mom was a hair stylist for over 30 years, I grew up in a hair salon. My inspiration has and will always be my mom. I saw her open two hair salons as a kid, and eventually balance a consistent clientele and a thriving real estate career. So, as people say I got it honest! What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? The best advice I can give is something that was shared with me, Be Motivated - Don't Mimic. I learn so much from others in this industry and the best lesson is there room for all of us!

By Nicole Grimes, M.Ed., Majestic Group What message are you sending through your image? It's amazing how we project how we feel about ourselves and show what we value through our appearance and professional behaviors. Sometimes we are so busy scrambling to “get there” that we forget the minute we walk in the room, dial in on the conference call, or answer a business call…the performance begins. What do I mean by performance…? One of my favorite quotes from Shakespeare is, “All the world’s a stage…” My translation – we are always on stage. We are all players in the game, so play your position right. You never know who is watching you, observing you, or admiring you, and taking notes! So, again, my next question to you is…what message are you sending? In my social media posts this week, I asked the following questions to get you thinking about your entry point:
Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
I serve as a Spiritual Leader, Author of 3 books, Business Consultant and Coach; CEO of Empower University, a company that hosts events, online business workshops, wellness and power coaching to help educate, elevate and excel individuals for success and personal development. Born and raised a pastor’s kid since birth I have worked in the community as counselor and mental health field. I am a board of director for Harbor House (a nonprofit shelter for domestic abused women) my passion is to coach upcoming authors and speakers on how to use their “pain to purpose” which is the next upcoming book that I am compiling with 6 other women (releasing may 31st) along with a virtual conference in march. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? It isn’t like I pursued it. I feel like it pursued me. As a pastors kid, it was my life to be there for others and be a leader. I ran from it for years because I was afraid of who I was but I couldn’t stay away. People have always drawn to me and I know why. I finally learned to accept it and embrace the leader that I was called to be. When I wrote my first book that’s when I saw how many people were affected by my story of failures and triumphs. I then knew that this wasn’t about me, it was about the lives that I was going to affect through God’s light shining in me. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? Be consistent, transparent and open to every opportunity. This field is not easy but it can be very rewarding if you learn discernment and wisdom on how to effective run your business. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: I had to overcome doubt. I knew I was destined to greatness and to be a successful entrepreneur but doubt always clouded my judgement. Finally, when I quit my job years ago I said “this is my time” and I literally didn’t give up until I saw positive results. I stayed up late at night educating myself and learning from other experts. I learned how to build my confidence up and trust that I would make it and I did. What is next for your brand/business in 2017? I have so many open doors this year and have teamed up with other women entrepreneurs. I’ve launched a training “power-up” program for entrepreneurs to launch their businesses successfully. I am hosting a huge business event in Indianapolis, April 8th. My co-authors from “pain to purpose” will be launching the book in may! I am also a part of a huge women’s empowerment tour this year called “Soar tour” and another hosting event “enlarge your vision project” in July featuring Camille Jamerson.
