Tell us about your upcoming music project and what we can expect? My current single is called Beautiful Mess, it totally describes my life right now and it’s point of growth. Also expect to finally see me performing. What was the inspiration behind the project? The inspiration behind the project was based on vibes from that day I recorded it. When I sat down in my session, the song was created based on being a mess at the time but a beautiful one, so it’s all good! I think we are all a mess at times, trying to figure things out in life. Your pictures from Carnival were gorgeous! What was the creative process like to prepare for the music video?
Honestly I grew up watching Carnival outside my window In Brooklyn. They have one every year down Flatbush ave. My family is from St. Lucia so I wanted to get back to my roots. Since Bunji Garlin was in Trinidad and it was Carnival month, we wanted to get the realness of it all, so the video you saw was no planning. It was me enjoying the islands, food and people and taking the footage and making the video. Nothing was planned, all shots were just done. Trinidad really showed me love. Even down to my outfits the staff at Meukow were so hands on with helping me get my Mass outfit from Yuma. The entire experience brought back so many memories and brought me back to my roots. As a multifaceted business woman and mother, what advice would you share with women about balancing it all? Write down your goals and check them off. Set boundaries for yourself and know that when you grow, most likely you out grow people too. Everyone can’t go with you even though you love them and want them around. With my son and me living in LA, I realized I now crossed off two things I wanted out of life. To be a mother and to live in Los Angeles.....God gave me both at once. It’s also ok to do stuff alone and not follow what everyone else is doing. It is hard to do both, but hey I’m doing both so all I can say is that your time becomes worth so much more when you realize you don’t have any time to waste. As a mother, your kid depends on you. So I'm saying that to say, you got to find what works for you and do that. No longer do what everyone else is doing, it will not work for you! What is next for you in 2018? What’s next for me is to be seen and heard ...meaning performing. I honestly don't have any more time for red carpets and events unless I’m performing.
