1. Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: Hi I'm Azeta Joel aka Zeta J., Author, Speaker and Empowerment Coach. I'm an Atlanta native and currently reside there with my two beautiful kids Nadiah and Noah. I enjoy reading, traveling, and socializing with friends and family. I have an entrepreneurial spirit and love all things related to business. In 2015, I launched a luxury skincare line called Facade Skincare and at the end of 2016 I published two books which are now available on Amazon "Parenting with No Bra" and "Like Father, Like Son - I Am". When I'm not writing or working on my other business, I'm serving and empowering others to trust God, get out of their own way and dream big. 2. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
Well, I've been interested in business since the age of 21 after working my first corporate job. I realized working 8 to 5 wan't how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. So I learned all I could learn throughout my career in IT, while climbing the corporate ladder. I have always kept a side hustle from preparing taxes to joining several network marketing companies. My motto is if you not learning then you not growing. Looking for a change in 2015, I launched Facade Luxury Skincare. I was bored and needed something else to do. So I began to watch and analyze business trends. After hours of research, the beauty industry was climbing and was the next best thing. I developed a plan, figured out the most cost effective way for me to launch and grow my business and did just that. On a personal note, my last projects "Parenting with No Bra" and "Like Father, Like Son - I Am" came about when I was at a very low point in my life. A couple of years prior to me publishing I had lost my job, was homeless, and found out that I was having a second child my son Noah by a married man. Something I never would have imagined. After having my first child at the age of 18, I told myself the second time around was going to be done the right way which was God's way. So I was hurt, depressed, confused and didn't know what the next move was going to be. But with God on my side and my mother I was well on my way to healing and recovering. It was a must my son knew his father and be involved in his life. Regardless of what the situation was. I had to put on my big girl pants, and deal with the situation head on. There wasn't a book or person who had dealt with this situation that I knew of. So I decided to share my story, lessons learned and how I overcame this traumatic experience, releasing my memoir "Parenting with No Bra". Now what I did know there were other single mothers raising sons, who do not have positive father figures or role models involved in their lives daily. So I said what better way to reach millions of fatherless boys providing them with positive images of fathers who look just like them. That's when " Like Father, Like Son - I Am" was birthed. 3. What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? God has given them a specific vision to complete his assignment. He has a message that he wants them to share with the world. They have to stop procrastinating. Stop over thinking it. It's not going to be perfect, but you have to start and finish it. For my authors/writers write the plan, create an outline and start writing. If you are a visionary and have multiple ideas, jot them down and pick one that you are willing to invest your time and money without pay and go for it. While you are in pursuit of happiness and chasing your dreams, it's important that you keep God in the forefront. Pray over every plan and move you make. Then watch God work in your life. 4. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: My biggest challenge was overcoming fear. Fear was keeping from reaching my full potential as an individual and in my business. Fear had me doubting my purpose and giving up on my dreams. Fear was keeping me from collaborating, partnering and making business contacts. Each day I had to say a prayer and repeat this bible verse "God did not give me the spirit of fear, but of a power, love and a sound mind." If I continued to allow fear to continue in my life I would not be doing this interview now. I would not be content, happy and at peace with myself. If you are living in fear now and scared to go after your dreams repeat the same scripture I did daily and take action. 5. What is next for your brand/business in 2017? My mission is to empower others to dream big, restore broken families, and help women regain trust. I will continue to develop and create products that support this mission. More books, seminars, 1 on 1 coaching's and much more. 6. How can readers connect with you online and through social media? Yes. Thank you so much for sharing your story and intimate parts of your life. I can relate so much to your story being homeless, broke and once involved with a man that belonged to another, but there is so much joy in growth, seperation and finding yourself and your voice. I salute you my sista. God bless and I look forward to seeing more from you.
