Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
I am an Alabama native and marketing professional currently residing in Atlanta, Ga. In 2014 I received my Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications and Film at The University of Alabama. While going through my training I became highly skilled in the following areas: Television, Radio, Film, Event Management, Writing, Advertising and Social Media Management. After college I stepped out on faith and founded TotallyTara Public Relations, which is a firm that focuses on Brand Management and Awareness.
What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
I became extremely creative and interested in communications at an early age. During my time in college I involved myself in every and anything media and marketing related. After have the opportunity to complete multiple internships that’s when I knew my passion was to start my own business and help the success of others.
What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit?
I would say Research, Read, and Experiment. It’s not an easy journey at all, but it is very much worth it. Starting out you have to put in overtime in order to establish yourself. Learn the industry, your market, latest trends, and the current needs. Lastly, experiment and experience! Go out there and try new things, see what works, see what fails, and get the experience under your belt.
Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it:
Investment was a huge challenge. As a professional and starting a business it takes money to make money. I had to really sit down and think about cost all around. You have to take in consideration on what you are investing in, prices to charge for services, marketing, your time, and the list goes on. It was a challenge starting out because I was not seeing that return but you realize it takes time and that’s okay. Also, remember it is okay to ask for help, seek a financial advisor if it is necessary.
What is next for your brand/business in 2017?
