1. Please introduce yourself and brand to our readers:
I am an Award-Winning, 3x Bestselling Author and an Award-Winning Publisher. I am currently the CEO of Tanisha Mackin Publishing, formally known as Author Tanisha D. Mackin Publishing. I am a colon cancer survivor and I consider myself a survivor of all things that has come my way. I currently reside in Georgia with my two beautiful children by the way of Buffalo, NY.
2. What inspired you to become and Author?
I always had a love for writing, but becoming an author was not a goal of mine. I received my MBA in Healthcare Management in 2011 and I wanted to work in the medical field assisting cancer patients. My focus changed once my husband was murdered on our 1 year wedding anniversary. The story made worldwide news as it was considered the worst crime in Buffalo, NY history. My friend suggested that I write about the things I’ve gone through and I wrote my first book, Still Standing. I came up with the title from a Monica’s song that inspired me through my colon cancer journey and the death of my husband. After the responds I received from my first book, I continued to write and I turned my pain into purpose by sharing my testimony through writing.
3. Tell us about some of the books you’ve published:
I’ve written 5 books and co-authored in 4 books, including a book with Actress/Comedian Kim Coles. My first book, Still Standing gave readers a glimpse of my life up until I lost my husband. Still Standing II, A Widows Journey discussed life after loss, becoming a single mother, my husbands murder trial and etc. My 5th book, My Testimony, I Don’t Look Like What I’ve Been Through (2015) gave readers an update on my life and to show my readers my growth since my first book in 2011. My company published over 30 books for our clients, including Genise Shelton’s (Married to Medicine) Bestselling book, Married to Fitness.
4. What is next for you in 2019?
I am going to continue to grow my company and help authors share their stories through writing. April of this year for my 40th birthday, I will be releasing my last book, Living My Best Life On My Own Terms, Lessons I’ve Learned. I love this book because I talk about the things I’ve learned in the last 9 years of my life, from broken relationships, the importance of saving money, single parenthood and being broken myself and finding my self-love again. I am also working on an amazing project with tv/radio personality Jae Nash on a book called Girl Power UNCENSORED (Coming Soon). This book gives readers the raw and uncut stories told by 22 women, about their trials and tribulations and how they overcame.
