Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: My name is Sabrina Lee and I am a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina. I have reside in Georgia for the past 12 years. Over the past 15 years, I have worked in retail management and decided to become an entrepreneur and work for myself. Now, I am the owner of Live Love Slay Salon and I am also a full-time mom and wife.
What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? Making others feel good inspired me to pursue this area of interest. I enjoy making others, especially women feel great about themselves. All women enjoy having their hair done whether it is to embrace a new style, turning over a new leaf or just for a night out on the town! When clients leave my salon pleased with our service, those moments are constant reminders why I choose this profession.
What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? I would tell someone who is pursuing building their own brand to take their time and never give up. Sometimes we as people think success happens overnight and in actuality, it takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears and dedication. One of the constant things I have to remind myself is that Rome was not built in a day and it takes time to perfect a masterpiece.
Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: A professional challenge I overcame is “putting myself out there”. What I mean by this is – I was not a person who would spark conversation randomly. However, being in such a competitive market, you must communicate and create robust relationships with total strangers. When marketing my business, I have to be able to persuade strangers to come visit my salon.
What is next for your brand/business in 2017? The sky is the limit for me! My goal is to soon open another shop to expand my brand.
