Introduce yourself to the Glambitious Readers:
My name is Nicole Mason, and I am a wife, mother, preacher, author, executive leadership coach and an attorney to name a few of the roles that are prominent in my life. I am attorney by trade.
What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
I wanted to be a lawyer since I was 9 years old. I have always been an advocate for what I believed was right. As you might imagine, this kind of spirit energy got me into many fights. But, I have felt deep in my heart that I was born to speak up for people who either wouldn't or couldn't speak up for themselves. I was influenced by episodes of Perry Mason, particularly at the end of the episodes when he asked questions to a witness on the witness stand in rapid succession, and the person screamed out with a confession. I totally loved the skills Perry Mason used and the results to get to the truth.
What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit?
I would encourage those interested in pursuing a law degree that it is a mighty weapon to have in one's arsenal. Pursuing a law degree increases one's capacity to analyze facts, negotiate, make arguments in a persuasive manner and think strategically. These are skills that are certainly great to have and can be used in other areas of life.
Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it:
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to be an attorney since I was 9 years old. However, when I applied to go to law school, I was rejected 9 times! I was accepted on the 10th time. I just simply refused to take no as an answer. I knew what I wanted to do, and I wasn't going to let anything stop me. I might also add that when I was accepted on the 10th time, I walked into the orientation to gasps in the room. Some of the people were gasping, because I was big, round and pregnant. The pregnancy of my 2nd child wasn't going to stop me either. I was intentional about my decision, and I was successful.
What is next for your brand/business in 2018?
I am working on multiple projects for 2018. I am working with 10 first time authors for a book collaboration that promises to be a tremendous blessing to the readers. I am excited to release my mobile app that is focused on motivating women on the move. We all need to maintain our momentum as we pursue our purpose, so my mobile app will be another resource to motivate women movers and shakers. Finally, I am really excited to have international travel scheduled to empower women in others parts of the world.
