What inspired you to become a CEO? I have wanted to own a business all my life, as a kid I use to sketch dresses and I wanted a plus size boutique filled with all my favorite brands. As I got older that desire shifted, I wanted my own brand. I wanted to be able to CEO to teach my son what it takes to run a business and be able to create a legacy to pass to down to him. If you could share business advice with yourself 10 years ago, what would you say?
If I could share business at with myself 10 years ago I would tell myself don't worry about friends and family supporting you, you will find a tribe of amazing strangers who will love and support you. I would have told myself it's ok to not know everything but find people that do and ask questions. Share the 3 key steps that helped you bring your vision to life: In bringing my vision to life I hit a lot bumps along the way. First key is just because it makes sense to you, make sure in everything you do that there is clear communication. I received my first box of shirts sized in CM instead of INCHES which was a failure on both parts the manufacture and myself because we assumed that when I said 34 it had to CM neither of us clarified to make sure we knew exactly what were doing. From that point on when doing sizes I realized I need to have a CM to Inches conversion on my size chart when dealing with manufactures. The second key is fail forward. In the road to entrepreneurship it may not be easy, and you made not be an overnight success but keep pushing forward. Every failure has helped me learned, adapt and grow as a business owner which was a necessary part of the process. The last key would be to ask for help. I spent a lot of years trying to be all things in businesses that I wish I would have asked for help earlier. 3 steps the first is failing forward. It took over a year to get a shirt made in the right size and color.
