Introduce yourself and profession to our readers.
Hello, my name is Candice Coulter. I am an associate licensed therapist in North Carolina and the owner of High Maintenance Boutique, an online retail space that offers fashion forward, affordable clothing and accessories for the woman on the go. In short, one can call me a retail therapist. I believe that women should dress the way they want to be addressed and clothing is a powerful form of self-expression. One's style is a way to introduce yourself to the world without speaking.
What inspired you to pursue this area of interest?
I have always been passionate about fashion. I grew up in Charleston, SC where King St, a major retail location exists with rows of fabulous boutiques. My ultimate goal is to have High Maintenance Boutique on King St. Fashion has always been an outlet of self-expression for me and I believe the same for others as well. Nothing compares to seeing a woman's face light up when she tries on a dress or even a piece of jewelry that compliments her.
What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit?
I would have to tell someone who is interested in pursuing a career in fashion to stay true to their personal style and do not attempt to conform to what everyone is doing or selling. Your unique style will always appeal to someone else.
Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it.
One challenge I overcame was learning the business of fashion and retail. I love fashion and know that I can put together fabulous looks, however having a business is more than cute outfits. It’s important to learn about the business aspect of your passion because it’s not a business if you aren't making money.
What is next for your brand/business in 2016?
For the remainder of 2016, I plan to prepare for 2017 by reflecting on all that I accomplished this year and how I can do things bigger and better in 2017.
How can readers connect with you online and through social media?
