Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: Hello all my name is Candi Marie Marsh, 37 I was born and raised in Long Beach California. I consider myself a fun out-going person who loves to laugh, it brings me such joy when I can make others laugh as well. I am a worshipper at heart and consider Jesus to be the center of my existence, without Christ I am truly nothing. I have over 10 years of experience working in Higher Education setting and for the past 5 years have been working at Cal State Los Angeles University, in the College of Engineering Computer Science & Technology Department as a Professional Academic Advisor. As an academic advisor, I have the awesome opportunity each day to impact the lives of students. I am also blessed to know that I play an integral role in helping students’ achieve academic success. I love working with students and the impact I get to make each day. However, my passion is empowering women to pursue purity and to guard it above all else. This is the reason I began the ministry Purity Guarded. ![]() What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? Purity Guarded is a ministry created to equip, encourage & empower women of all ages with the necessary biblical and practical tools to pursue purity on purpose. I struggled with masturbation, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem for years. Instead of speaking out about my issues I suffered in silence. Fear paralyzed me and closed my mouth, but I will not be silent anymore. You should not have to suffer silence either. I want to empower others by sharing my personal story along with how my relationship with the Lord began to grow during this purity journey. During my purity journey the Lord taught me through His word the importance of guarded my purity. It was at that time that I began to see that purity was more than just about saving myself for marriage or getting a wedding ring. Purity is about guarding my peace. Building strong convictions about my value and my worth gave me the confidence I needed to value my purity. Today, I stand free, I have overcome masturbation, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. What has allowed me to stay free was standing on those convictions I developed during my purity journey. Proverbs 4:23 is one of the scriptures I stand on today it states "Above all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it!" What advice would you share with those interested in a similar pursuit? Some words of advice I would share to those interested in a similar pursuit is to remain focused. There are a lot of things that can distract us from pursuing our goals. What we have to keep in mind is why we started the pursuit in the first place. For me I truly want to see others walking in freedom. In addition to staying focused keep your vision at the forefront of your mind that will help you to stay the course when times get rough. You are not always going to feel like pursuing your purpose, but we can’t let our feelings get in the way. We must push pass our feelings and go anyway. Discuss a professional challenge and how you overcame it: Technical was my challenge. I do not consider myself to be a techy, but I did not want to allow my limited technology skills to stop me. How I overcame this was to teach myself. If there were things I didn’t understand or know how to do I would be resourceful and ask others or use YouTube. YouTube has a wealth of tutorials on how to do most anything. I am also facing my challenge head on by building my own website. What is next for your brand/business in 2017? I am excited to announce that I am in the process of building a website for Purity Guarded Ministry. The website will serve as a tool to help others through blog post, purity resources and much, much more. I plan to launch sometime this year.
