Check out our Q&A with Author, Tiana Nicole!
Introduce yourself and profession to our readers:
I reside in Chicago, Illinois where I attended the College of Technology, obtaining my degree in Computer System Technology during her earlier years. Upon discovering I displayed the talents of a Jill-Of-All trade, I proceeded to earn both a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, and a Master’s of Science in Business Management.
I quickly discovered that writing was something I could do, and I could do it well. From creating fiction for the wildest imaginations, to becoming Editor-in-Chief of my very own women empowerment publication Konect Magazine, I avidly consumes the craft of writing.
I published my freshman debut novel Deceitful Temptations in 2014 under my private label Triple Pearl Productions. My sophomore novel titled the Sacred Bond of Matrimony was released in 2015 along-side my junior novel, Vengeance is Sweeter than Khandy, as a part of a double release. I decided not to stop there by switching gears and graduating from producing thoroughbred fiction to empowering self-help by debuting my senior release, You’re Not the Boss of Me, a women empowerment book penned to assist women with living their lives fearlessly, kickstarting a nationwide female empowerment movement.
What inspired your pursuits?
The honest truth is that life experiences inspired me to pursue every accomplishment I've set out to complete. A good example would be the Contemporary Fiction genre - I was drawn into it based on my own reality. I believe that you write about some of what you’ve lived, some of what you see, some of what you hear, and some what you overall desire, so I would have to say that this genre chose me based off of my personal life experiences.
What advice would you have for those interested in a similar pursuit?
I would advise to be the best you, and not to allow others to tell you what's right, wrong, good, bad, or indifferent. With writing, there is no wrong way to do anything because its a freedom of expression, so I would tell anyone who's wishing to pursue this industry - to write with passion and what makes you feel good. If you're a hopeless romantic, write about it, if your life is filled with drama, write about it, but what I will say is don't write about things you don't know! Don't write about science fiction if you know absolutely nothing about space travel! That's a bad move-LOL!
What is next for your business/brand in 2016?
Wow, whenever I'm asked this question, I don't know where to begin because I have a multitude of exciting things happening for me and my business this year alone. Besides the books, my second baby is my empowerment source, Konect Magazine. So, I've gravitated into media, editor-in-chief, producing, talk show host, podcast host, and a mixture of other things but I wouldn't have it any other way.
