What inspired you to become a CEO? I was a homeless pregnant mother who lost everything and had to took a leap of faith to become a CEO to get everything back. I have been in the US Army for over 19 years and during one of my 4 deployments to Iraq one of my soldiers suggested that I become a spin instructor to pass time. In the moment I learned on the go, and from that many people started to fill the room elated with the results they were getting from class and said I should become a personal trainer. Well I did and upon returning from Iraq I interned at Golds Gym Arboretum in Richmond, VA. I was later mentored to go and create my own business due to the amount of knowledge I had developed thru experience and education. Knowing I had no other options, wasn’t really making a lot of money I started Uncovering The New U, LLC with $5.00 and hope. What has been your most exciting accomplishment to date?
My most exciting accomplishment to date is bringing a community together of people that not only have created new found friendships and outside of fitness classes, but support each other along the way in their individual lives as well. It could be easy to say I am proud of my awards, books, degrees, international speaking engagements, and much more, but when U become a fitness professional it's not about U, its about the lives U change for the better. The people U help transform their minds, body, and spiitual connection with self. For years I wanted to bring people together with a common goal and motivate each other to keep going and even giving hard lessons that are sometimes hard to swallow. But they did and they do. I am so proud of that because in this moment of time, we need each other more than we realize. Any 2 pieces of advice you would share with emerging CEOs?
