What inspired you to become a CEO?
This is such a loaded question for so many reasons. I don’t think it was “something” in particular that inspired me to become an entrepreneur. It was something that I became. That is why I love the title and the content of Becoming Michelle Obama. I believe that entrepreneurship is definitely a calling. It’s something that you have to be graced to do. Any time that you are responsible for impacting someone else’s financials, that’s a great responsibility. You are in fact boosting the economy. I love helping people. I don’t like calling myself a “CEO”. I am in fact a servant leader. I am living the life of my dreams because it allows me to serve.
What has been your most exciting accomplishment to date?
I have a nonprofit, Deborah’s Place. I was donated a 10,000 square feet warehouse. Being able to provide rental assistance, food assistance , and scholarships to those are at this time less fortunate is not only humbling, but oh so rewarding. “If I can help someone along the way, then my living, yes my living, will not be in vain.”
Any 2 pieces of advice you would share with emerging CEOs?
Absolutely. Remain a forever student. And make sure that you have everything documented. Have your stuff in order! Make sure any time you do business that you have the proper documentations.
What is next for you in 2020?
I’m truly excited! I’m in the process of opening my medical training school, Sovereign Care Medical Training Center. We all know that we are in a pandemic, and to be able to provide others the opportunity to get in the medical field to help in the healing of those who are suffering from the Corona-19 virus, it’s something like non other. We will have, just to name a few: CNA, Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Home Health Aide, Medical Code and Billing, Pharmacy Technician, etc. We will eventually have a LPN program.
