What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I see so many successful women making great money in their business, yet they have low savings, high debt, and nothing to show for it. So I use my background as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Education Instructor to help them understand how to create money management plans, systems, and strategies. What key advice would you share with readers that are interested in your industry? Money is a hard subject for people to talk about because of of their past money mistakes, money blocks, and embarrassment, but keep at it, they're listening. What is next for you and your business this Fall? I'm creating more DIY products for those who are ready to get their finances together, but not yet ready to work one on one with me yet. Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: My name is Shkina Halbert and I am a faux finisher/ decorative artist. As a child, I knew I was going to become this big-time lawyer. I never in a thousand years thought I would become a decorative painter, finding so much enjoyment out of elevating and transforming spaces for my clients. I had no idea what this was going to turn into, but I know I wouldn’t trade this amazing experience for anything.
When I’m not creating beautiful decorative wall finishes, I enjoy being a mom to twins, Zachary and Zoie, photography, cooking, and traveling. I love spending time with family and friends who support me and encourage me to chase my dreams. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? In 2015, I decided that I wanted to start my own business. I was not happy with my career and knew I had to do something that I enjoyed. I knew that I loved to decorate and entertain people. I first thought about event planning, but I knew that there was a lot of competition in that industry. I also had an interest in interior design, and one day, I ran across an Instagram post from a women that called herself the Faux Pro who was offering classes in Atlanta. I took her workshop and fell in love. The workshop was very inspirational for me. I left her class and decided I was going to switch my primary business to faux finishes while also offering interior design services secondarily. What key advice would you share with readers that are interested in your industry? Be yourself, be confident, and don’t give up! Find something that separates you from everyone else in the industry. Although it’s not easy to create faux finishes, anyone can learn if they apply themselves. The key is learning how to make your finishes unique. Naming your finishes, mixing textures and blending products are ways to make yourself stand out. I would also emphasize to them to never give up. I’ve been in the industry for only a few years and I’m just getting started. I have moments when I ask myself, "What am I doing?," or "Why am I continuously spending money when I’m not bringing in as much?" This industry has it slow periods and periods when demand is really high, so stick with it. Nothing worth having ever comes easy. People who have done well didn’t just wake up with success. Stay with it. Stay focused on the true goal and everything will come together. What is next for you and your business this fall? I’m going to place greater emphasis on marketing my services and my brand. I’ve learned that the heart of your business success lies in its marketing. I want to be the Faux Guru. Hopefully this experience will give me more exposure, leading to increased clientele and referrals. How can readers connect with you online & through social media? Her inspiration comes from helping others, no matter where they are in life or who they are. And while some would look at her life now and figure that she has everything together, that hasn’t always been the case. Her story and the life lessons she’s learned have been numerous; yet, they’ve always afforded her the opportunity to help others and infect them with one word: BELIEVE!
She was a great student in her younger years and always pushed herself to focus and make great grades. Although she was often taunted and teased for her tall stature and slim frame, she remained engrossed in her future. Obviously, it worked because she has been voted one of the “100 Top Anesthesiologists” in the country, via the Consumer’s Research Council of America. This has been an honor she’s received more than once. And because of her focus and perseverance, she wears many hats, including: Media Coach, Self-Help and Motivational Speaker, Grief & Loss Counselor, and Ordained Minister. As life has been known to do, a major curve ball was thrown one day. And Dr. Sunday went from a 6-figure income to nothing, at no fault of hers. However, she now realizes that this set back was merely a set up for an even greater comeback! So in her hitting rock bottom, she actually was able to get back to the foundation within herself that had been overlooked for so long. And from that moment on, she learned how to TRUST and BELIEVE! For her, giving up was NEVER an option. So when the economy took a nosedive in 2008, she decided to create her own economy. Today, she successfully runs and operates several business entities: Sunday's Publishing, Good Deeds Media Network (radio and magazine), and R.S. Commerce, P.C. She also provides media coaching and consulting services, along with traveling the world with ministry and motivational speaking endeavors. Dr. Sunday is a southern belle, from Alabama, and doesn’t mind sharing her gifts. Whether you need to publish a book or build a platform to share your story, she is equipped and experienced to push you into your destiny. She’s been on multiple platforms with the likes of Bishop T.D. Jakes, Oprah Winfrey, and has been a special guest on numerous TV stations and talk/radio shows. While operating in her gifts and loving every moment of it, she never wants to keep it all to her self. For that reason, she launched and operates the “Be Seen, Be Heard, Get Paid” movement. Dr. Renee Sunday is a genuine spirited woman who’s love for humanity fuels her. Renee Sunday Enterprises is equivalent to a tree with deep roots and many branches. It genuinely encompasses all of the gifts that I’ve been allowed to share with the world, to date. But it also leaves room for anything else that I may be blessed to birth in the future. So right now, RSE is like the substratum for all that I do, which includes: Sunday Publishing, Sunday Foundation, R.S. Commerce, P.C., Be Seen-Be Heard-Get Paid, Good Deeds Radio & TV, and the list goes on. So to sum it up, the idea was to get planted and branch out. The one thing I do over and over is serving! I know it seems simple, I know it seems trivial, and it may even seem like it doesn’t make sense. But in serving, we are constantly figuring out ways to allow our gifts to bless others. In serving, we strive to give the best parts of ourselves in order to help others heal and mature. Everything always goes back to servitude. The more you serve, the more doors that will open up for you. And entrepreneurs must remember that their sole purpose for being who they are is to serve! I’ve always been willing to learn from those who have been where I am and have surpassed where I’m headed. This allows me to always bring my “A game” and help clients the way I’m supposed to. Sometimes, we can get caught up on competition instead of seeing how we can learn from others. So when I get to meet someone who is successful in where I want success, I allow God to open the door for a connection. This has allowed me to meet some very influential people, who’s wisdom and walk have challenged me to stay on top of my game. Not enough women know about cars! I know that sounds funny, and I know that some “new age” women would disagree. But I’m convinced that the majority of women can’t change a tire or can’t check the oil. And while that’s not an indictment on anyone, I think women (in general) feel like there will always be a husband or father or brother or someone else who will come to our rescue when we’re in vehicular distress. Let me tell you something…..that is NOT always the case! And I experienced it first hand!!! That’s one of the reasons I wrote “50 Things A Lady Needs to Know About a Car.” ![]() Introduce yourself and profession to our readers: My name is Felicia Kelly. I'm a money management strategist and I coach Christians to Coins. I help Kingdom builders, entrepreneurs and corporate professionals to create and implement money systems that allow them to live a lavish lifestyle of abundance while building a financially secure future. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I grew up in a religious environments that typically equated being humble to not being rich. I constantly see the acceptance and glorification of living in mediocrity or poverty and people, especially Christians, are conditioned to believe that if you have those experiences, you're more respectable, as if God will love you more than He loves wealthy people. What key advice would you share with readers that are interested in your industry? I would advise them to create a financial plan that allows them to have enjoyment. We tend to focus on the restrictions of a budget and what we can't have when we really need to be focused on what our financial plans and smart money management can provide for us. I'd also tell them to be honest with themselves about what they TRULY want their lifestyle experience and legacy to represent instead of holding back to make others feel comfortable. If you want the mansion and private jet lifestyle, live your best life and GO FOR IT! What is next for you and your business this Fall? I'm making connections and preparing for speaking engagements throughout 2019. I find that the the market loves having empowerment conferences and feel good business events, but there's almost never a money expert involved to teach the attendees how to set or accomplish their financial goals. This fall, I'm connecting with people who want to help me change that narrative. How can readers connect with you online & through social media? Hello, My name is Constance Ogilvie, and I write Children's books. What inspired you to pursue this area of interest? I have never stopped loving children's books since I was a kid. What inspired me to write children's books was to showcase the stories of my daughters and have them illustrated in their likeness. Growing up all the fun, vibrant children's book I loved as a child never had black people in it, and on the rare occasion they did it was some sad story generally about a slave or some hardship. I wanted to change that. What key advice would you share with readers that are interested in your industry? My current single is called Beautiful Mess, it totally describes my life right now and it’s point of growth. Also expect to finally see me performing. What was the inspiration behind the project? The inspiration behind the project was based on vibes from that day I recorded it. When I sat down in my session, the song was created based on being a mess at the time but a beautiful one, so it’s all good! I think we are all a mess at times, trying to figure things out in life.
