The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and pleasantly answered my millions of questions throughout my stay. Located about 15 minutes or so from downtown Atlanta, the hotel is easily accessible from the 285 and 75 highways.
Upon entry you will be pleasantly surprised by the upscale decor including striped walls and plush seating. The room accommodation is equally chic, including a lounge chair, desk area and flat screen television. The onsite restaurant offers an assorted menu of tasty cuisine options and a breakfast buffet with a hot omelette station. My guest and I indulged in the shrimp & grits, ravioli, fried green tomatoes and drinks from the bar, (which were the perfect mix of strong & sweet!) There is a heated inside pool, which is awesome considering the unpredictable Atlanta weather. There is also a 24 hour snack bar beside the front desk, (had to snag some late-night m&m's). Overall I was very pleased with my stay and ofcourse brought along my Glambitious Success Journal to plan more amazing empowerment efforts. I will definitely be returning whenever I need a quick getaway or some downtime! On Feb. 22, Kontrol Magazine hosted their first annual Women of Style Dinner, a series of dinners that are designed to honor amazing women making moves in the fashion and beauty world. The spectacular event took place at House of Blended Ink in Atlanta. The mood for the evening was set with an elegant black and gold themed atmosphere designed by Kimberly Hamilton of Sapphire Décor, Sweet Seats, Divine Celebrations and Imperial Hair Collections. Kontrol‘s latest cover girl, Angela Simmons, was recognized for her contributions to the fashion industry with the first Women of Style Award. “This award means a lot to mean and this night is a moment that I will always cherish with me,” said Simmons.
As the guests mixed and mingled with Simmons, they were served with some of Atlanta’s finest cuisine provided by local caterer Ebony Jones and Brown Sugar Desserts. Delicious cocktails served by bartending company Rum on the Run were also swirling around the room courtesy of sponsors Effen Vodka and Martell Cognac. The Women of Style Dinner also brought out a few other distinguished business professionals in the entertainment industry to celebrate the affair. Those in attendance included Jasmine Burke, Monyetta Shaw, Christian Johnson, Bo Talley, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Lillie Mae. Erica Caver Vines was born in Tuscaloosa, AL and raised in Fayette, AL. Erica wrote her phenomenal devotional and story titled "Mending the Broken Spirit-A Devotional for Women" as a help to reveal the struggles and hurdles that women face and how she too had to overcome some of those same struggles that others do today; How she looked for love in all the wrong places, channeled her emotions the wrong way and inflicted them on others and much more. Erica hopes that her devotional and self-revealing stories will help empower and prevent women who are facing some of these same challenges from taking some of the same dark roads that she did before walking into her salvation. She hopes that these stories and tips will be an encouragement to move you to be the woman than you have been created to be and seek dealing and healing much differently than society tells you to.
